New Corvette!
Re: New Corvette!
Anything above 300HP is just decreasing the time it takes to get to deadly speeds. Pushing 49, I think I prefer to pad my reaction times a bit.
If you haven't, watch the David Freiburger (from Roadkill, etc.) special "200 MPH Club." Not only do you get a better understanding of just how much raw power is necessary to punch through the air at 200MPH, you also see the practicality hit once you start modifying a car to be especially good at only one thing.
I have considered a Procharger rig for the Corvette, but I'd need to plow some decent money into suspension upgrades before there's any chance I want to add more power. There's a slight amount of body roll in the corners.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

DAMN! You are old. No wonder that high school kid gave you the senior discount at Jack in the Box.
Never gonna make you cry...
Re: New Corvette!
Saw a definitely-not-stock C8 on a flatbed between Los Angeles and Orange County on Monday - and it looked menacing. Mrs. Schnell, who is not a Corvette fan (she has not been in my 'Vette for at least 5 years), pointed it out.
Not sure whose car this was, but it looked like something out of a Cold War nocturnal emission dream...black, swoopy, and ready to kill you.

The final Chevrolet Corvette from the C7 generation rolled off of the assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky on November 14, 2019. That makes it the last front-engine Corvette in history.
Regardless of how you feel about the Corvette, this is the end of an era...

Re: New Corvette!
The mid-engine will be better for racing for Chebby. The front engine Vette had a good long run all the way back to 1953. I have driven a couple of scary ones. The ex-brother in law had a 65 convert with a 1968 427 with tri-power engine in it. I drove it when I was 17 and almost shit my pants...more than once! He also had a 63(think that was the year) with a massaged 327. You had to stay out of the throttle if it wasn't pointed straight. At the same time he had a 59 and it was like driving a buckboard! What a POS that was. In fact he had all three at the same time. He was an idiot.5chn3ll wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 5:01 pm The final Chevrolet Corvette from the C7 generation rolled off of the assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky on November 14, 2019. Hopefully the next iteration won't be an EV SUV...
Re: New Corvette!
I just hope it has manual door releases so more old guys and their dogs don't get cooked in Waffle House parking lots...

Re: New Corvette!
Latest CD had a road test of the z51 c8. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and some decent cornering dynamics, they did mention a lot of understeer though.
They said that higher end models will have 600 hp flat plane crank V8, and 1,000 hp AWD hybrid. So top model will basically be a corvette Veyron. Can't imagine what kind of numbers it will post.

Re: New Corvette!
Saw c8 in person today. I have to say that is looks much better in person than in pictures. I can't explain that, but in person it feels better propertioned and seems much more attractive.
