For Sale in Seattle, WA: 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet_$26,500
Re: For Sale in Seattle, WA: 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet_$29,500
Beautiful car - if the black is as deep as it looks and not filtered, that paint seems to be quite lovely.
"The IMS bearing was replaced prior to the factory replacement engine being installed in 2016 at 43,194 miles."
I do not understand the preceding comment - it reads to me that the bearing was replaced in the motor that is no longer in the car; I'm not sure that's useful
Regardless of the marketing tripe being the WRONG marketing tripe, it's a pretty car.

Nope! Not a 997...2005 was the switch over year from the 996 to the 997. There were 4,012 996's sold as 2005's. This is one of them if it is actually a 2005. Providing a VIN number would clear all this controversy up.jdana24 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 9:59 am To try and answer all questions in this reply, yes this is a 2005 911 Carrera Cabriolet. As far as I know, the 997 is the internal code name for 911 Carrera model and production began in July 2005. If anyone has interest in this car, feel free to message me and I'd be happy to answer any questions.
Never gonna make you cry...

I suppose there could always be a first, but I've never heard of anyone saying "these round headlights on my 997 look terrible, I'm going to retrofit the 996 front end!". I'd say those headlights clear it up well enough32wildbilly wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 12:02 pm Providing a VIN number would clear all this controversy up.

I'm curious to find out if it is really a 2005. I already know it's not a 997.gnat wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 12:20 pmI suppose there could always be a first, but I've never heard of anyone saying "these round headlights on my 997 look terrible, I'm going to retrofit the 996 front end!". 996 is the correct model identifier for this car. The headlights are a giveaway...they are not round, as in your description.
For more empirical proof: VIN digit 8 is the value "9" and VIN digit 12 is the value "6" - so you know the car is a 996.

Here's some additional Porsche VIN decoding info - again, this is for the characters in positions 8 and 12 of a US VIN.
