It's a little late, but I think this is the correct appendix for this post:

Oh Elon...you so need to grow up.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday it was opening an investigation following Tesla’s recall of virtually every vehicle equipped with the automaker’s Autopilot advanced driver assistance systems. The original recall, a software update issued back in December, covered over 2 million Tesla vehicles and was meant to address “driver misuse” of the system, meaning Tesla had to add features that would make sure drivers were paying attention while operating Autopilot.

Now NHTSA is saying Tesla’s remedial actions with the recall were insufficient. In its report, NHTSA wrote that its Office of Defect Investigations had “identified concerns due to post-remedy crash events,” meaning vehicles equipped with the updated Autopilot software had accidents that may have involved inattentive drivers. Also, NHTSA noted that Tesla disclosed that the recall fix “requires the owner to opt in and allows a driver to readily reverse it.
So given the option to nap, watch tv or pay attention to driving while driving I wonder how many choose poorly?

EV's: an idea so good that Hertz dumped their entire 20,000 EV fleet. CEO resigned.

EV's are a choice, but I won't have one. The prices are pretty high for what is basically a very fancy, well-appointed golf cart.

Agree on the price points - but it seems they're so hard to sell that some 2023's are still sitting around. One of my designers got a $67k fully-loaded 2023 ID4 for about $40,000. I have been getting calls from the dealership I bought my Ranger from trying to get me to trade it for a 2023 Lightning XLT LR that is now about $50,000. Only problem with that is I signed up to buy the same truck for that price when they launched it and they told me I could only pre-order a Platinum or pay $25k ADM. So now they can kick rocks.

If you live in the right city then they're fantastic city cars. Much to my chagrin everyone I know that owns a Tesla, and there's 10's of them now, love the heck out of them.

Who knows - I'm looking at that Electric Boxster. (Ducks behind wall.)

If you ever get an itch for a "luxury" EV, check "sold" prices on BAT. Those suckers plummet in value big time, almost as bad as a Jag. A 3-4 year old Taycan typically hammers for 30-40% of new.

A cheap and cheerful EV, like a Nissan Leaf, *could* be an option as a city car. Heck, you could buy a new one every year, throwing away the old one for nothing, and still be money ahead versus buying a Taycan. Ouch.
