Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread
I just order the carpet that goes behind the seat, but does anyone know if there is a board or frame that is supposed to mount here (see arrow)??
One of the previous owners had a subwoofer box installed behind the rear seats. Thanks for your help and advice.

RE: your wheels.
See if someone is willing to do a straight trade with you for their stock wheels. They may not be your cup of tea, (mine either,) but someone will dig them as they're not BAD looking... Lots of guys like the black wheel / polished lip look.
At the very least sell those pups and get some money for your other projects.

Maybe Schnelly will even trade me for his 18" Turbo Twists? These have new tires on them and they ride smooth, but of course not perfect.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 12:24 pm RE: your wheels.

If only he hadn't recently gotten himself kicked out of probably the largest resource on the Internet for such swaps between Porsche enthusiasts.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 12:24 pm RE: your wheels.

No. But what is done, is done. Once the laughter died and the room was cleared, I realized how a prank like that can hurt the integrity of a serious discussion within a forum. Now on the other hand, did the penalty fit the crime? IMHO, absolutely not. But... let's move on shall we.gnat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 12:56 pmIf only he hadn't recently gotten himself kicked out of probably the largest resource on the Internet for such swaps between Porsche enthusiasts.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 12:24 pm RE: your wheels.

Just be glad you didn't use the "Good Week" word. They would've cut your nards off.

Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread
UPDATE:
Just ordered the following to get started:
1. Oil Plug(s) and crush washers
2. Replace rear hatch & frunk struts
3. Replace rear deck carpet
4. Seat belt adjuster cover - ordered from Porsche.
Next steps:
1. Remove bubbling tint and clean windows of glue
2. Open driver's side door to investigate rattling noise (probably from sloppy speaker install)
3. Remove console faux carbon fiber stickers. Probably will have to repaint console and center dash trim after removal.
4. Remove Radio and install my Blaupunkt. I can't stand the "spaceshipish" look of the Pioneer radios.
5. Change oil/filter - inspect filter - move on with life.
This should keep me busy for the next couple of weekends.

Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread
Here's the dash with the faux carbon bits I'm going to remove. You'll notice I don't have a PSM button on the center dash. Thought that was standard on the MK2. Guess not.
