Re: Shit, I think my car was totalled today

That last sentence made me very uncomfortable.

Re: The NA 996 "Normal operating temp" thread

The following text from the site "pistonheads" (https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=48&t=647763) explains how to use the MKI HVAC console to display actual values: The AC Climatronic unit is actually manufactured by Audi. There is some sort of serial data stream (not CAN) that allows...

The NA 996 "Normal operating temp" thread

Since this is a thing on every other site, I wanted to start this off by suggesting that you use the Torque app and your phone with a wireless OBD-II dongle or, if you have a MK1 996, learn the HVAC control voodoo to display actual values rather than relying on that useless dash gauge. Here's a scre...

Re: Dammit, Jeep...

I'm accustomed to historical Mopar/Chrysler quality issues; I've actually been really impressed with the quality and layout of the Wrangler. The double-jointed octopus that drew up the layout for the engine bay, though, needs an ass-kicking*.

* If octopuses have asses...

Re: Shit, I think my car was totalled today

Lil' Pump doesn't even mind a little damage... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQMoCoG5Jdk Lil Pump is in the market for the new whip Mike. Last of your Porsches was worth $100k before he wrecked it at the front. This one, being bigger and slightly wrecked at the rear should be worth around $150k. H...

Re: Shit, I think my car was totalled today

$30K for a tip 996 with 150K miles is definitely walk away money. It might not be 5 or 10 years from now if prices start to nose up, but for the foreseeable future...cha-ching.

Just got off phone with insurance. I'll get $28,906.84 for my car. Not bad for a 150k mile tiptronic.

Dammit, Jeep...

I'd been 100% happy with the Cherokee, but...after a couple of hours working from above, I finally pulled off the driver side front wheel, removed three fender liner bolts, and folded back the fender liner all to...drum roll...change the driver-side HID bulb.

What a crapshow.

Dunno, but I'm going to give it a try. I miss the obnoxiousness.

Good news: it only took 2 days to get emissions ready; I was anticipating it sucking, potentially a lot, but the last one clicked over on the way home from work today.
