Re: Best Mod, Worst Mod

Ok, I’ll play.. Best: did my own fister mod to the exhaust. Used 1.75” diameter stainless steel tube for the bypass. Love the sound inside and outside. Worst: as part of replacing the orange front marker lights with smoked clear lenses, I installed orange LED light bulb replacements. They were just ...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Took it out for a drive to get some fresh air and enjoy the nice weather. As I was motoring along, I noticed that the odometer was closing in on 80K so I took the long way home. The odometer rolled past 80K and I continued home without incident. I truly enjoy this car. :D

Re: 1000 Miles, All Smiles

Noted! I’ll try to stop by next time I’m in KC. Would have been impossible on this trip as I had 6 other people with me, each with their own agenda...

1000 Miles, All Smiles

I just returned from a 1000 mile trip from Omaha to south central Missouri where a large group of us float the north fork of the White river. I’ve been making this trip annually for the past 12 years but this was my first time in the 911. The previous trips have all been in my F250 crew cab and I’ve...

Re: Engine number doesn’t match hood sticker

Lots of good info in this thread. Gotta love 996 owners with an internet habit!! Quick update: Perimeter has shipped me my parts order. They are just awesome. I’ve attached a photo of my hood sticker for completeness. I agree w/ bfreak’s analysis in that my car must have had an engine swap somewhere...

Re: Engine number doesn’t match hood sticker

B3freak: Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for the awesome service I get from Perimeter. I wish more online outfits did the same. As you said, a couple of emails in a few hours saved me days of delay and dollars of shipping costs. I just left wondering if the miles on my engine match my odometer... T...

Re: Engine number doesn’t match hood sticker

I should have included the numbers in the original post, my bad...

Hood sticker says: 66X69600
Perimeter says: 66X06108
Engine stamped: 66X15987

I’d really like to know when that engine went in service and what model variant it came from.

Thanks,

Engine number doesn’t match hood sticker

While ordering parts to replace the hoses I disturbed while replacing the water pump and AOS on my ‘99 C2 manual convertible, I discovered that my engine number doesn’t match my hood sticker. I placed an order with Atlanta Perimeter Porsche and included the VIN number with the order. I received an e...
