Today was goodbye to the 996 C4.

Sold on BaT for $30,500. That is 17.5% more than I paid for it in July 2020. Was a very nice ride and fun (when the crappy LA roads weren't trying to rape it). Things like T&L and maintenance costs (and the auction fee) are all the ongoing price of having fun...I don't worry about breaking even ...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

I'll still hang around...the 996 is an amazing car. There was nothing wrong with mine...driving it in LA took the fun out of it. I'm selling it through the same dealer I bought it from...NuVo Trade down in Newport Beach. It will probably go to BaT...they seem to have a large 996 fan base, and the pr...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Went back to an Alfa Giulia. I know that I screamed and yelled about the modern car technology...so I got a base model with zero options (and less nanny stuff to defeat). It seems unphased by the crappy streets in LA, and it does have very good driving performance.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

With regret, I said goodbye. The last year has been very nice. The car has been everything I hoped for...the best of the 996s and 997 and 964 that I have owned. Maybe even equal to my 993. But after a year as a daily driver on the streets of LA, for me it proved not be the right car. The streets in ...

Is the 996.1 going to become the new Bitcoin?

Yesterday a plain jane 92. C2 with 71k miles, sold for $93k. Today, a 93 928 GTS (automatic trans) with 91k miles, sold for $53.5k. Yes, they made more of the 996...but many of those have disappeared into age and neglect. And the 996 is the better car. I think the recent $55k for the 996 in a rare c...

Re: Looking to buy; Feedback please.

I think the price is high...higher than the market prices of other cabs can justify. Everything the others have said is right on. But there will always be another one that you will like as much as this one. I spent months driving and searching, never finding that perfect one that I really felt good ...

996.1 goes for $55,000 today on BaT! Has the curse be broken?

I watched it, great fun. Certainly not a normal price, but a good new high, especially when you consider the car. Yes, it was a stunning car with a rare color combination and an outstanding service history and only 27k miles. But it was also a straight ahead normal 996.1 I doubt this means that they...

Re: 996 Values going up, up, up

The 996s on BaT are simply well documented, and enthusiast watchers call out spotted flaws and ask questions. Many if not most of the examples have also had the IMS job done, and have good service records. A few days ago I saw a silver C2 on its first day on the auction, bid at $25k. Some sellers wh...

Re: Poll - Do You Prefer A Manual or Tiptronic ?

The only thing the Tip is missing is rev matching on down shift, otherwise it is a faster transmission than a manual. And if it had the rev matching I very likely wouldn't have gone back to a manual. But the Tip is like the Cab...expensive when it is 20 years old and it breaks. You have to know its ...
