Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Ouch that sucks. At least from that shot it does look like a pretty simple fix as it looks like it's just paint work. $200 could be a good or bad price depending on how he fixes it. If he properly blends everything and matches the color $200 is a great deal. If he just cleans it up and sprays it, no...

Buy a Cayenne and replace the Porsche logo with a Jeep logo?

Sometimes people just need to be tricked ;)

Re: That'll buff out - 958 edition

Beats me. Since we've had 2+N cars since the late 90s I've never opted for a rental.

Re: My 2017 Cherokee WANTS me to get rid of it...

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Regardless, a fuggin' oil level indicator - since the oil level is obviously critical enough to shut the car down if it gets low - seems like a useful addition. Hell, even my 20-year-old water-cooled German abomination has one of those. Don't give the German's...

Re: That'll buff out - 958 edition

"Starting" might be a bit of a stretch, but yeah. They've pulled it apart so they can get parts ordered and file any supplements that are needed. Now it's just sitting back in the parking lot without it's front end waiting on the supplement review and parts. He's exceptionally slow, but his painter ...

Re: My 2017 Cherokee WANTS me to get rid of it...

This is DEFINITELY another instance where better coding could have tremendously improved both how the error was handled and the subsequent actions needed to get the car moving again (i.e. override the f*****g nannies if the speedo shows the car is moving so you don't have to park on the freeway)......

Re: My 2017 Cherokee WANTS me to get rid of it...

I'm sure Hertz does install nannies, but they probably hard wire them in. I wouldn't have known that my Porsche dealer did it except that my foot got tangled in a mass of wires that suddenly fell from the underside of the dash while "briskly" driving down the highway. Called when I got back to my of...

PSA for owners of newer Porsches

If you have one of them fancy keys that looks more like a car than a key and the battery in the actual car is dead DO NOT put said key into the ignition until you are ready to jump the car. Once inserted it will not let the key go :(

Joys of a shop that takes so long, your battery goes flat
