Re: 996 Outpost Tomfoolery at CFOS in March

It really is nice when people do good things that they don't really have to do. Good story. :)

For sale or? CTEK Wall Hanger 300 charger mount

During one of my moments of buying hysteria online [a pox upon thee, PayPal] I bought a heavy duty mount for my CTEK charger, hoping to get it off the floor. The issue? It's way too big. This unit is for the larger size CTEK chargers. I did not read the fine print....hell, I didn't read ANY print. C...

Re: QuickJack - anyone have one?

Really leaning toward the QuickJack. Being realistic, changing wheels and doing minor maintenance is probably all I would ever do. No engine / trans drops for me. Logically the QJ is probably all I would ever really need.

Re: QuickJack - anyone have one?

The finished ceiling is 8' 2", but the steel beam that runs laterally across the ceiling brings it down to 7' 6". Where the Porsche sits, the beam would contact the top of the windshield if the car was raised high enough. The Danmar might work, but I would have to do some serious measuring...

Re: QuickJack - anyone have one?

The Danmar unit is still on the list, but I would have to remove some shelving and maybe a cabinet on the outside garage wall to allow for it. FIRST I would have to check the slab. The house was built about '62 and I know they did not anticipate lift installations back then. 8-) While the Danmar lif...

wet Wet WET!!
It ended up being the 15-17 hours of Daytona. Unreal how even the best of the best could not overcome the hydroplaning - just too much water.

Re: Bore Scoring! Who knows for whom the bell tolls...

Personal opinion, but I think any negativity towards Flat 6, LN, et. al. is just denial: People get a 996 at a great price and then find out that there are more than a few issues that can happen, and they just don't want to come to grips with reality. They'd rather bad-mouth the people that have don...

Re: QuickJack - anyone have one?

Interesting. Are those the SUV adapters that are giving the 911 a little extra boost? Looks like the process was: up on the Quick Jack, down on to the cement blocks, then back up again using those tube-spacer-things to get an extra half-foot. Are they something that came with the QJ or are they home...

QuickJack - anyone have one?

The reality of getting an actual lift for my garage is doubtful - a normal garage with a low, finished ceiling pretty much precludes anything but a scissor type lift. Even a Max Jax would be too tight - just not enough room side-to-side. I realize that with the Quick Jack that you trade lift height ...

Reminds me of an old John Huston / Jeff Bridges movie: Winter Kills A bunch of eccentric guys would drive out in their tanks and shoot at each other. :)
