Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Well, it was last week I did the first track day of the year. I went with a buddy who also has a black 996 Turbo. And a 1973 Volvo 240 race car his son was driving. It turned into a crashfest. Out of 1 hour on track I got 12 hot laps @ 85 seconds each. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ls0hmp9edpfouxp/Scree...

Re: FRUNKenstein's 1988 E30 Cabriolet

That is an awful lot of part for only $29. We get to change the thermostat housing on VR6's every 50-80k because it is plastic and is known to crack. If it is replaced with an OEM housing for around $150 it lasts another 50-80k (I keep a spare on hand at all times). Using an aftermarket plastic hous...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Had a track day coming up so I installed a new steering wheel and an adapter to make it removable. It is really fantastic! Way better than the factory wheel for track use. The MOMO wheel has an NFC tag in it to prove it's genuine. 20230506_175753.jpg Not exactly 996, but... ordered a four wheel brak...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

You thought of this already, but how old are the tires? My past-due Kumho's started shaking around that speed too. I think the place I had install the previous tires was crap. I am convinced the weights fell off at some point. In any case, the new Mich's are smoooooooooth as buttah. Now I have the ...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

My Easter Sunday was spent changing out the upper control arms on my Cayenne. These are looking at you from their home in the wheel wells saying "I'm right here - come replace me!" They you realize the first step to change them is to remove the windshield wiper arms and you know you're in ...

Re: AutoX

I am so glad that you will be able to continue in this endeavor! Also in your 4S a limiting factor is going to be negative camber in front - or rather lack of. The factory setup runs very little negative camber and really cannot get anything like enough. I run -3.8 degrees front and get very even ti...

Oh, I see. I've always loved that commercial and the other one where he's filling a hockey rink.
