Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

That's what I've done in the past - but at this point phone lines are kind of a formality rather than a necessity. I can open an account with any of half a dozen VOIP providers and have all of my numbers ported in a few days; I was just giving the old guy the opportunity to keep the business (which ...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Heh. I just got their reply. "The best we can do is 24 months." So, I'll start moving my shit to cheapassvoipproviderdotcom on Monday. I'm definitely not gonna pay $7,200 over 2 years for $1,500 worth of stuff I really don't need at all. I started priming the cancellation pump back in July...

Gnat is still alive and well, in case anyone was wondering. Still going through some things, but ok.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

They started out providing (and we still have some) on-prem equipment, but 99.9% of what we do with them is VOIP, and the other 1% goes away at the end of next week. "Telco" is a generous description - they're just a provider who bundled the calling package and the circuit from the local I...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

So this is kind of fun. Closing down our offices at the end of January to go full-remote, and our telco provider is trying to play hardball negotiating new rates...but we do not currently have an agreement in place. OK, bro. Look at our account...see how many people actually use the phone...and eith...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Digging deeper into the world of Fiat-Chrysler (eew). I picked up a salvage rear view mirror on eBay from a better-than-mine spec Grand Cherokee...and I happen to have an OBDLink EX cable and AlfaOBD running in a Windows 10 VM on my garage Macbook Pro. Once I get the mirror (and a dongle from Amazon...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

I am surprised the Beemer doesn't have headlight lens deicers ...also known as "halogen bulbs." :D I was driving home last night in our X3 There were a lot of things about my X5 I didn't love - it was definitely not the most capable off-road SUV...the diesel version I bought weighed nearl...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

It was a sweet morning for a drive in the 996. Today is my pop's 81st birthday, so I drove up to Dana Point to buy him breakfast. Because my pop is damn cool for an 81-year-old, I got him welder for his birthday. He was stoked - he hasn't welded since he worked in a refinery in Texas as a teenager. ...
