I use a cheapo $70 detector. Popo out here almost always come in k-band at 2,3,4, while the annoying luxury car radar hits 8/9/10. It'll be a nice chance to clear up the injectors and run through a can of seafoam. I do it every few thousand miles. Extra oil for sure, 2 or 3 quarts. Maybe clean the radiators if you have free time leading up to the trip. I did that this year for the first time and it dropped a few degrees off the...

If the front feels loose & prone to diving, you might try some drop links to sturdy the sways. The chassis is certainly capable of precise handling up to the mid 100s, so tweak/tune until you get there imo.

Will the replacement short block fit in my car? Pretty sure I have the long block version. I read the thread on rennlist & it sounds like they have new factory shortblocks pitched as 'reman' that cover the span of m96s (2.5, 2.9, 3.2, 3.4, 3.6, 3.8). Costs are variable depending on displacement...
