Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread
One consideration: graphite is electrically conductive. Most likely a non-issue, but I prefer to use dry silicon spray when electronics/electrical is involved. Don't lube external latches with WD, ,etc. Use graphite powder. Doesn't attract grime and dirt like liquid lubricants would. dporto gave me...

Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread

I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought the bolt from Jim Ellis in Atlanta. I was able to find the othe...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Aerokit front bumpers are crazy expensive. When I cracked mine back in 2014, the quote for the part alone was $2,300 (IIRC). Luckily the body shop was able to repair it, and the cost with new paint out the door was only $900. You got robbed? We're on our 4th front (aero) bumper and it's never been ...

Re: VTEC Just Kicked In, Yo.
Not my cup of tea. I'm sure Hoovie will try to put one in another Porsche and turn up full ricer mode, but there are some things beautiful that should be well enough left alone. There is something great about the flat 6 motor and it seems we all can learn from Hoovie's Apolo 911 experience with his...

Re: VTEC Just Kicked In, Yo.
Of all the LS swap threads I've read, I've never seen anyone spend much time talking about the balancing issues when putting a different motor like the Corvette V8 in the 911. Seems to me, one of the beauties of the Flat 6 motor is that it's design allows the motor to be mounted extremely close to t...
