Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Guess it was my "lucky" day. Alternator wasn't charging. But 12 hours before it was working perfectly. Same thing happened with our Acadia. I fixed it myself a couple weeks ago and the cuts on my hands have almost healed! I now need to replace the same headlight bulb that was burned out w...

Re: 996Outpost monthly giveaways now sponsored by Kansas City Automotive Museum!

If anyone's curious about the exhaustive scientific methodology used to determine winners: I enter every active member with 1 or more posts during the drawing month into an Excel spreadsheet, ordered from most recent poster to least recent poster. I use the RANDBETWEEN function to select a random n...

The museum ebay lady is asking me if I'm ready for the next winner's package . . .

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Went to Taycan launch at our local Porsche dealer to watch them dramatically pull the cover off the Taycan that a bunch of us took a test drive in 2 weeks ago. But, it was a first class.party with good food and drink and some "artsy" entertainment, so no complaints from this freeloa...

Re: Ignition Switch Replacement

You can also get the part from ac VW dealer. From what I have been told, its around $30 and it is the same part a Porsche dealer sells for around $150. Apparently it has 3 part numbers on it, VW, Audi and Porsche At least that is what I have been told YMMV I called the local Audi dealership, but th...

Re: Ignition Switch Replacement

My car is now suffering from intermittent starter delay (2-3 sec. delay between key twist and starter engagement)...looks like I can't procrastinate installing the new starter any longer. I'm going to swap in a new ignition switch at the same time (it's been sitting on the shelf next to the starter...

JTT wrote: Sat Feb 29, 2020 3:40 am As you likely know, these switches are in an awkward place. Once I finally wrestled mine out, I replaced the set screws with a couple of cap screws (with tips pointed on grinder), so I can now loosen them with my fingers. Should make next swap much easier.
Nice idea!

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

I have a bunch of 1:18 models, but most of them inexpensive ones like Burago. I think I only have one AutoArt. They are very nice.
