Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Show us.gif [/quote] Alright, I'm a little late posting this but I picked up the car last week and drove her home! My wife absolutely did not want to fly, so we drove 800 miles down, and 800 miles back. A lot of fun. Also, we didn't want to drive a boring SUV all that way, so we "rented" a...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Weather has been great here for the last few days, so grabbed my son and we pulled the hard top off this afternoon. Approximately ten minutes later it started raining...
Sigh... Hopefully can make a top-down run tomorrow.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Likely this car will be around for a long time as BMW is no longer going to sell wagons or hatchbacks in the US - only SUV's. If I was to get a new SUV it would be a Macan, not a BMW. What???? We've colloquially been calling 5 series wagons "Bastards!" for a long time as they stopped brin...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Did not realize that the BMW has a "lifetime" key fob battery. More annoyingly around the lifetime of the e90s (though maybe before and after too, can't quite tell without really digging) they had two different keys. One (comfort access) takes a standard 2032 coin while the other charges ...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Drove mine to Cincinnati and back yesterday evening for a meeting (don't tell the virus police!). 250 miles, almost no car traffic on I-71, just a bunch of trucks that (mostly) stayed in the right lane. So good run to get the old car some exercise. It sounded better when I pulled into my garage last...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

POS BMW is complaining that I don't drive it enough. The battery in the key is apparently almost dead, but of course it doesn't have a user replaceable battery  It's supposed to charge when you drive, but since I do my best to not drive it... At 13 years I'd chalk it up to a pretty good batte...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Oh this is not a double-post but just kind of a shitpost - I made a kid (27) guess what year my car was yesterday and he guessed 2010. Not bad for a girl built in Sept of 02! Funny - people always think mine is much newer than it is. Also funny - mine is 4 1/2 years older than yours (Feb. 1998 buil...

Re: Introducing Porsche PCCM double din with Apple CarPlay for the 996

I just think it's freaking cool that Porsche is supporting their product with meaningful updates 20 years later. The fact that Porsche embraces their classic lines like this just adds to my pride of being an owner. Daryll I think your install is about as clean as it can get with an aftermarket unit...

Re: Introducing Porsche PCCM double din with Apple CarPlay for the 996

Here are two night pictures - one with the home screen, one with the CarPlay screen. It was hard to get a picture to show the color well, but the orange is just about the same as the Porsche lighting LED’s. 76789521-C5B0-4396-B199-630648631A38.jpeg565CE356-03F7-4947-9B4C-9187AD314C69.jpeg Will get ...
