I have the Vgate iCar2 Wifi ODB-ii dongle ($20). It turns on with the ignition switch and turns itself off 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off. The iCarSoft scanner is not compatible with the 996 or 986. It will perform the same generic checks as cheaper ODB-II readers but not any of the Porsche-specific functions.
