Re: The Hunt
Yes the truth is, I'm having fun. I keep $15,000 taped to my forehead so I have something to shoot for. If I'm going to spend more, the car and the seller has to earn it from me. I'm looking at a seedy car dealer piece tomorrow...$13400 in a color I really don't want. But it is a tip...and it will g...

Re: The Hunt
While a PPI is nice...is it really necessary? Or always practical? As many have said, no matter what you do or what a mechanic tells you, you are buying a 20+ year old car and something is going to break sooner or later. One of the cars I'm looking at is a two hour (one way) drive away. That seller ...

Re: The Hunt
I'm not finding a lot of tips. I went down to Escondido for one...a dealer...car was cosmetically okay but the ride was lacking, the wheels need alignment and balancing and it just didn't feel tight. I have found myself driving manuals, and it has its charm, but the automatics have spoiled me, divin...

Re: New Member Intros
I for one and looking forward to the detailed discourse on how the 996 is the new Alfa Giulia and/or how a 20 year old interior simply does not compare in quality to a 3 year old car  I would also like to start a pool for when one of us mods changes his tag to "Blow me asshole"...

The Hunt
Thought I'd move my search for a 996 away from the new members thread since this seemed a more appropriate place to discuss it. And for others to add their own current hunt (not WTB) experiences. My two thoughts are, forget what the pictures look like...and every 1999 and 2000 996 is going to seem s...

No it is really me. Anybody have thoughts on the use of the K&N air filter set ups like this one? I've heard its bad for the mass air flow system.

Re: New Member Intros
I thought I recognized some of the names from that other Porsche site. I like that idea that this is more relaxed...just enjoy the cars, learn, help each other, have fun. I'll drive this one car tomorrow. However the guy with the first car I made an offer on, just emailed to say he is lowering his p...

Re: Any interest in an Outpost SoCal meet-n-drink?
I'm up for it. So Cal covers a lot of space. I'm in the San Fernando Valley...and the current gathering rules make it a little awkward but its a great time of year for something outdoors. Cars and Coffee in Malibu is one thought? 2nd and 4th Sundays...they have a FB page. And I'm sure there are othe...

Re: New Member Intros
Getting back into a 996...this time doing it right...almost...maybe. Owned a 2003 996 manual...like it a lot but IMS fear wore on me. And I screwed up my left leg and started telling myself I'm not getting any younger. Swapped it for a 2006 997S w/ tip. Loved the power, loved the tip, hated the inte...
