Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) help

One of the best and most consistent things about the Porsche community is our willingness to help each other out. This is even extended to potential new owners who need help with getting a car looked at. This can be simply providing shop recommendations for a professional opinion, offering to go take an in person look at a car that is remote to you, or even if you are willing to go with the buyer on a local inspection/sale.

First some rules:
1) This should not be a conversation thread or a place to ask for assistance. Just post the shops you know and any offer look at car's yourself. Moderators should delete any posts not specifically offering shop info and/or inspection offers.

2) If you are providing local shops, please include their full name and a link to their website (or other contact info).

3) If you represent a shop (or have a connection to one), by all means post the info. Just please make your connection clear so everything is above board.

4) If you are offering to look at local cars, make sure PMs are enabled AND that you get email notifications for new PMs.

5) If someone has offered to look at local cars, use PMs to contact them.

6) If you are offering to look at local cars, give a clear idea as to your location and the distance you can travel. Any other limitations would be helpful too.

7) If you have a strong disagreement with someone's recommendation or inspection they provided, take it up with them and not in here.

I am happy to offer eyes-on for cars in the San Diego area. I'm in the La Mesa area. I can bring along an OBD-II scan tool as well...

I highly recommend Black Forest Automotive, both for your PPI needs and for servicing after you acquire your 996. They're honest, the pricing is fair, and they won't do work that doesn't need to be done.

I fell in love with my 996 and bought it before I could schedule a PPI. I know, it was reckless, but Black Forest definitely helped with the "what have I gotten myself into" anxiety with a thorough post-purchase inspection and a list of suggested repairs, ordered by importance, starting with "you really want to do this ASAP" on down to "when you get around to it."

I haven't take my car to mechanic yet, so can't really recommend anyone. I took my 928 to PowerTech and they were good, but expensive. I cannot enthusiastically endorse them.

But let me know if anyone needs eyes on a car in the Essex, Morris, Bergen, etc. area. I've only owned my 996 for a year so I am still catching up. I have more experience with the 928.

Denver Metro:

I don't trust no stinkin' shops... (actually, there are a few good ones but they are always booked up)

But i'm happy to help doing an 'Output-Check' myself on any local Porsche's if needed.

Seattle (Downtown/Capitol Hill) - Aker's Porsche on Capitol Hill. Excellent honest owners who work on 356 and up to the latest 911 off the showroom floor.
I have used Aker's Porsche for the past 32 years. Always fair honest and professional.

Houston, Texas - Motorwerks Autogroup. Excellent shop for recent PPI on my 997 S.
They are thorough and meticulous. Friendly engaging service staff that welcomed by presence while car was on the lift.
I highly recommend this shop for Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, etc.
