Sorry, thought I discussed this previously. Multi Material Unit

It's an attachment that allows the automated use of multiple filaments (5 in this case) in a single print from a single extruder. You can also mix material types (e.g. PLA, ABS, Nylon, PET, etc..) in a single print.

The only other option is the Mosaic Palette, it has lots of issue complaints too though and is 2x the cost.
#2: Prague as in Czechoslovakia?
Yeap. That's where the company that makes this printer is.
#3: 100 print hours to reprint just the silver?
2 prints (legs) = 30+ hours each. 2 take 24 hours (arms)

0.05mm layer height prints are SLOOOOOOOOW :(
One comment: Move work up to the kitchen table until the part shows up. :o
And be stuck on my 15" MacBookPro with a single landscape monitor and crappy keyboard vs my Linux workstation with 3 portrait 24" monitors and an old school mechanical keyboard? NFW :P ;)

MMU: You probably did explain that all this techie talk confuses me. Kitchen table: I understand the downgrade you would experience, but you could probably assist in the child care arena during your breaks or brakes, if you desired.

The absolute BEST part is when the extruder inexplicably fails to feed plastic for JUST long enough to introduce an irreparable, fatal flaw - but not quite long enough that you'd notice and stop the damn thing printing.

So far (knocks on wood) in 1000+ hours of printing I have have zero missed or shifted layers. Either it is a clean print (99% of the time) or it's a full and clear fail. I think that is going to change with the MMU though as it apparently LOVES missed and shifted layers :(

Since I rejiggered the overhead filament stand, the Makerbot has been reliable - but the issue with large-footprint objects warping up off the glass may be insurmountable without upgrading to a heated build plate, and I'm not sure I want to sink even more money into an obsolete printer.

Don't know how it works without a heated bed, but adding a PEI sheet to your bed may help: https://all3dp.com/2/pei-sheet-as-a-3d- ... t-a-guide/

It's soooo nice not having to play games with glue and tape for PLA. I just wipe it down with 91% and print. Finally did my first PETG print just before taking it apart. The recommendation there is to simply spray the plate with windex, worked like a charm (though it was not stuck nearly as well as PLA does so I don't know how a large print would fair.

I'll give it a try - I've pushed the limits of painter's tape squares and hairspray....for massive raft prints, something with more stick-um is definitely needed.

Ummm... Maybe keep your keys out of sight...

And that 3D printer they used is positively garbage. Mine wouldn't need the raft, wouldn't need the glue, and would have had a glass smooth bottom side. That example just gives 3D print quality a bad name!

Crappy print, but interesting video.

I would never print a raft on a part like a key - but I'm very lazy.

Two observations:

#1: The two hosts are geeks and way too excitable!

#2: ACE Hardware can make a duplicate key that works much much faster and, I'm guessing, much cheaper as well.
