Yes, definitely. I am so glad I had them on Wednesday night when I had to drive cross town at night at the last second to get my COVID vaccine. I plan to buy another set for my X1/9. Cheap and easy upgrade that adds a significant safety improvement.

This morning, I had the 914 towed to the mechanic next to the auto museum as he said he’s very familiar with air cooled VWs. So, he’s going to install the throttle cable, change the oil, look for exhaust leaks, adjust the carbs and adjust the valves,

Oh, I know - remember that the hooptie fleet includes an X1/9 and a 928.

I thought about tackling the throttle cable myself and then driving it over to the shop for the other stuff. But, it was like $90 to have it towed, so I said "screw it." Sometimes my laziness overpowers my cheapness (generally after an epic internal battle of the psyche).

Hmm, still waiting on my car. I stopped by a couple of weeks ago and they said "just waiting on an open lift to get 'er done."

Today I called. Assigned mechanic says the throttle cable is too short. I say "That's the only throttle cable they made for all years of the 914."

He says, "Yeah, I know. I checked. But it's still too short. Shorter than the one I took out. I'm gonna have to fabricate some sort of new mounting bracket."

Me thinking that the money spent towing it to the mechanic was money well spent.

Or could you have already had it done as you would have found that the cable fit just fine???

Well, it’s got dual Webers on it, so the engine end of the cable probably needed some modifications.
