356 Forum Ebay, Craigslist and other online Finds

Post by FRUNKenstein » Mon Feb 12, 2018 9:02 am

Post your ebay finds here - both cars and 356 related items. Then, let's discuss. Please post photos and text along with a link as links on "for sale" websites have a tendency to go away quickly. I'll start with a restoration project out in California. Seems decently priced at $25,000 "Buy It Now". Looks like a pretty bad victim of rust though. What say you on this car?

The engine number shows a 1962 model year not 1963 - 63 S engines began with 705 - 704 is 62

356 coupe with electric sunroof is nice find but this car is rusted like crazy and everything needs attention. the engine# doesn't match the cardex.
I've got a pretty good idea this car will need the following:
- significant rust repair - every part of that car is rusted horribly - doors/fenders/floors & longitudinals/battery box, around fuel tank - I would estimate $20K for rust repair only for panels and labor. paint add another $6000
- engine -$8000 for complete rebuild with carb rebuild and replacing missing sheet metal/engine compartment parts.
- various missing parts and shop time for cleaning fuel tank/installing sound deadening material/etc- $5000
- interior redone with carpet set/seats re-done/etc, headliner - $6000
- suspension/brakes, fuel lines, electrical - $6000
- if you are lucky enough to get by with the above estimates, then you have to have someone put the new seals on and assemble the car and get everything working right which will be another $7000 if your lucky.

i would say $60,000-$70,000 is a fairly low estimate to get this car up to snuff
