That's a beautiful car, Mike. Both of your 914s are. That is a very, very reasonable price for that car. Reminds me of that very first Porsche I looked at back when I was 17.

BTW, how much to do a color change on a 914?

A quality color change is expensive, 10k or so. A cheap one can be done for much less.

Completely hypothetically, let's say from light blue to, well, you know . . .

Ah well, THAT color is much much less, since no one likes it.

Or maybe I have that backwards, it's much much more because everyone likes it.

There's a Franken914 on ebay currently:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Porsche-9 ... SwScJa9QUI

Has a GM 3.8 liter engine. Also body kit. Other than the color being beautiful, it's not really my bag. Also, the Buy It Now of $18,900 indicates an unrealistic seller as I don't think I'd pay over $10k for a car like this. But, if nothing else, it is interesting:

Another highly-modified 914 currently on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-Porsche-9 ... SwGV9a6x5U

I'm not referring to it as a "Franken914" because the mods are done with Porsche parts - ad reads:

This 1975 914 has many valuable 914-6 upgrades, including 5 lug conversion, 911 brakes, Bilstein suspension, oil cooler, motor mounts, short shifter and more. The engine in the car is a 1971 911S engine serial #6311778 with Weber carburetors. I was told it was rebuilt not so long ago, but cannot confirm. The engine runs great, does not leak oil, and pulls well. The car starts, runs and drives well. The transmission is a 901 transmission and shifts well. Clutch feels very good. New flywheel. All fluids are up to date. The paint is excellent, and there is no rust on the car. The car has a body kit as shown in the pictures. The whole car is undercoated (including trunk, doors, underside and floors). The car has Kenwood radio, amplifier, Sony speakers, Sirius radio antenna. Momo Champion steering wheel. All the interior is custom made carbon fiber leather (dashboard, two-tone seats, center console, door panels, rear panel. All carpets are brand new (interior, trunk front and back). The gauges work well. The targa top and glass are all very good. The sills are in good shape. All the electrical parts work. Wheels are Porsche Boxster wheels (size 16). Front tires are 205-55-16 and rears are 255-50-16. Brand new aftermarket exhaust. The doors open from remote control (no outside door handles). one click opens, one click closes. Electric windows work well. Clean title.

Decent looking ‘73 2.0 liter car on CL in Palmdale, CA. If it is in decent shape, $9,500 for a ‘73 2.0 is very reasonable.

NICE! Driver quality 914 Porsche. Original color Yellow with Not original black and Red interior. I do have original black seats ( boring ) If you want them instead. I have owned 3 914's in my life time. This is by far the fastest one I have owned. It is also the most reliable. Only time it let me down was when the clutch cable broke. I have a stack of receipts on this car for the 9 years I have owned it and another stack of receipts from the previous owner. You will notice those bumpers are not original. Fiberglass!!! Saves about a 125 lbs. Of course if you hit something its gonna hurt so don't do that. Me and the former owner never have. No rust That I can find but your more than welcome to look yourself. Not perfect, some fitting problems back deck. little dents here and there but if it was perfect I'd be asking a bunch more. This is a car you can have fun driving while you fix the little things. 73 was the most desirable because it was the first year for the 2.0 engine. Call nine 2 eight 5 six 6 two 77 zero with any questions, Thanks

I like the seats he put in, but they do not go with the exterior color at all.
