Congrats on your new arrival!

Just an additional note on adding pics: place your cursor where you want the picture to appear in your post just before you hit the "Place Inline" button. Sometimes, you'll want the pic to appear in the middle of a post rather than at the end.

Now, let's see some pics! Don't be stingy!

Battery Guy wrote: Tue Jan 15, 2019 5:27 pm OK, I actually have my car finally! And it is great. Drives perfect, amazing what a difference replacing a near-worn-out clutch makes in drivability. Couple of little things that I will need to address but overall could not be happier. Specs - 1999 Cabrio with 71,900 miles, six speed, no options. At some point the sport design wheels were added (probably when new at the dealership) and a CD changer installed.

I was surprised how much squeaking the hard top generates, but the roads here are complete shit which may explain some of that. Guess that I may have to pull the hard top and put something on the rubber seals?

This car is fast. Amazing for 20 years old... Now I really will be asking a ton of stupid questions so you have been warned!

First stupid question - how do I attach a picture????

Looking forward to more stories of new adventures in your 996. Post lots of pics.

How? Two step process - 1. under "Attachment" tab, select "Add Files". Then locate the picture on your computer and select "choose". Then, the 2nd step... 2. Once the image loads, the file along with a "place inline" button will show under the "add files" button. Then select "Place inline" once it fully loads. Now it should embed on the the post.
OK, here goes. Pics when just out of the detail shop. Super clean and shiny. Note what it is parked on top of - the mortal enemy of a clean car... :o

Drive home was pretty uneventful given the weather forecast. Amazed how tight these cars are though, especially after twenty years. Hit plenty of rough road, but the car itself was tight and rattle-free. The hardtop squeaking right above my head was just about ready to make me jettison it along the side of the road but it made it home too!

Next projects, in no particular order. Replace console glove box door (hinge broken). Replace parking brake handle (leather deteriorated). Replace shift knob (all scratched up, may try touch up paint). Replace sun visor mirrors (plastic deteriorated, covers came off). Order a set of coco mats. Replace stereo - still trying to decide which way to go - Continental or double-din. Add a license plate frame. All pretty minor stuff - I had an indy shop do the heavy lifting with the car in the last few weeks - new clutch, rear main seal, IMS bearing, sway bar links, fluids and filters...
So now I just need some better weather to drive it!!

Hatchetf15 checking in...
Sitting on a plane in the Bahamas loading folks in a hurry to get back to a snow storm.

I haunt the other forums (not literally) like RL, RT, 911UK. A lot of 99x owners have giant broomsticks up their bums, so I like this site for its valuable blend of bawdiness and brainpower (so far about 50/50).

On my second 996, crashed the first, and also have an ‘06 CTTS. Can’t wait to get home and post some tailpipe pics. Racey!

Welcome! I think I would have to consider getting OFF that plane. Winter has come full-force in my area, with temperatures that are just....depressing. Hope you enjoy 996 Outpost as much as the rest of us.

Welcome.

I now shall quote our charter:

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said, 'we are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

guitar solo... then yada yada yada...

We are programmed to receive.
You can check out any time you like,
But you can never leave!'

There ya go!
