The German guillotine tried to take my head off last night as well as my sons fingers when he didn't listen to me telling him not to put his hands there...
Finally remembered to use Warehouse33 when ordering the new struts.

Yeah, first time I took my car to the Indi I forgot to tell him the engine hood struts were weak. He found out the hard way and that hood is heavy.

Probably need a new Indy. Good indication he is either super new or doesn't know 911s!32wildbilly wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 11:05 amYeah, first time I took my car to the Indi I forgot to tell him the engine hood struts were weak. He found out the hard way and that hood is heavy.
It only takes getting whacked in the back of the neck with that hood latch once! Got me ages ago and ever since if you pay attention there is a pause between me opening the frunk and sticking anything I particularly value under the hood.

Well he sold his business and is out as a chief mechanic on the Red Bull competition flying circuit. He worked on Euro cars for over 25 years. I miss his knowledge...except for his knowledge of crappy Porsche hood struts!gnat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 11:19 amProbably need a new Indy. The frunk hood is pretty benign as far as impact compared to the engine hood! Even with new struts on both hoods I typically keep one hand on the frunk lid while in there especially during the winter! I've got the 4S so there ain't room to put shit in there so it typically only requires one hand. If working under the hood I will utilize some type of hoop prop open device. Trust but verify.

Yeah the plain C4 is the same way. Amazing what you can cram in there when you try though!32wildbilly wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 11:41 am I've got the 4S so there ain't room to put shit in there so it typically only requires one hand.
I replace that strut at the same time, but our rear strut has yet to fail. It has always surprised me as our's has to hold the weight of the taco as well. The deck lid gets opened far less frequently though. If working under the hood I will utilize some type of hoop prop open device. Trust but verify.

I forgot your's is a C4. Three plastic grocery bags is about I can get in there. Do you have the inside "hood protector" thing? My car has a small pimple created by a previous owner trying to shut the lid on something too tall. I don't want to add to that. I typically fold the rear seat back down and load all the groceries in the seats and upper shelf created by the seat back.gnat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 12:02 pmYeah the plain C4 is the same way. Man you're not trying! I had 12 2 liter soda sized bottles in there last night and plenty of room for more, but the rest I didn't want squished by said bottles.
Just paint on the underside of the hood.
