All season tires

Post by JayG » Wed Nov 06, 2019 7:20 pm

Well my Targa needs new shoes. Actually I should say my wife's Targa...

In any case. It currently has AS/3's (they were on the car when I bought it) and frankly hate may be a bit strong for describing how much I like them.
They are fu'kin noisy.. The only good thing I can say about them is they have a mileage warranty and Michlein replaced a set of rears for free a while back

The Targa won't be tracked or Ax'd. Strictly street and back roads for her.

Any suggestions for all season tires?

I've had good experience with the BF Goodrich all seasons in 18". More than decent grip for an A/S, and it does not completely go away when the temp drops below 50. :)

There's AS3 and then there's AS 3+

The latter is a great tire

I’m running the Bridgestone Potenza RE980 A/S on mine. Put about 6,000 miles on them so far, cannot see any visible tread wear. They are decently quiet. Our GTI came with similar tires from the factory, RE97 A/S, and I just had to replace them at 43,000 miles. They were pretty noisy at the end though. The GTI got a set of Goodrich A/S from Costco as the Bridgestone’s were not on sale and the Michelins were quite a bit more than the Goodrich. Only done a couple hundred miles but they seem nice as well, and relatively quite. Tire Rack ratings on the Goodrich were actually higher than the Bridgestone. BUT - they are on a GTI, not a 911.
