Great job, Bill. I'm glad you were able to save the 996... and, very impressed you tackled the job yourself. Care to share how much the "resurrection 996" project cost?
What did you do to/with your 996 today?

To be honest, That's just been up and down the hill to work. I've had a tough time getting in for an alignment and my rears where down to the wires...All good now and ready for some longer driving.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 7:09 amHow many laps is that around the island?

B3, $4K for the car, $6K for the motor and a couple thousand in shipping, tools and PM stuff. Subzero really helped me on the price of the motor...I know some of you where leery of him and or the motor, but he turned out to be a stand up guy. I figured I'd keep rolling the dice and so far I came out on top...Knock on wood!
The PO bought it in 08 for $17 and put almost $20K into it before I got my hands on it...

Hey Schnelly, do you mind posting some images of your car since painting the wheels. Would love to see the dark grey turbo twist wheels on a black car. Thanks!

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
No problem. I completely understand. I was able to find some Anthracite Metallic Grey spray paint from Plasti Dip. I painted the center caps and believe it or not, they match up with the power coat. Not perfect, but close enough for me. Now I just need to get some tires put on these wheels. Although people always compliment the Vossen wheels that I currently have on my car, I'm not a big fan of 19" wheels on the 996. I put lower profile tires to avoid scrubbing, but I still think 18" wheels are the best match. I always wanted the 18" turbo twist wheels that Porsche originally made for the 993, but haven't been able to find some for a deal. I did locate a set in Atlanta for $500, but the shop was on the other end of Atlanta and with other priorities, I didn't get the chance to go view them. But then I met this nice guy at our local cars and coffee. As mentioned before, he had just powder coated the wheels. At the time, he had two 996 cars. I'm not sure which one he was planning to put the wheels on, but I'm glad he choose to sell them to me. He ended up selling one of the cars on bring a trailer. Here is the link:

Someone got a great deal.

Been moving this past week, Got home and looked in the rear view mirror to see smoke, step out to see a puddle under the right side and my heart stopped...Full panic mode :! Damn O-ring failed on the PS line and was dripping onto the header. Lucky I didn't burn it to the ground! Fire extinguisher next.
