Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
I haven't done anything to the 996 per se.. getting over the holidays and being sick at the moment. However I did register for the 2019 Werks Reunion at Amelia Island. Last years Werks was the first time I took the old girl on a trip (at nearly 172k miles when I bought it in Feb 2018) She was flawless btw on the entire drive. My 11 year old and I made the 800 mile round trip, saw a lot of cool cars and met cool people. It was great meeting Rod Emory there too, and my son is in the PCA video posing for a pic with Rod.
Well, this year I will be showing the car in the judged area, mainly just to be in the center of it all. Look for the road warrior, stone chipped, 183k mile black 996 with a GT3RS wing and some canards.. wheels are TBA as I have several to choose from. Maybe I can get the Gemballa Speedlines together by then and present with a "janky GT3" theme
Loving this car so much and the community that surrounds our outcast 911s is amazing
:edit not quite sure why the pics showed up like that...but I'm clueless to fix it

You've clearly spent too much time with DT and picked up his parking style

Finally installed my Tarett monorail top mounts! I've had them sitting on the bench for months, but life keeps getting in the way. Good therapy a few hours in the garage, followed by a good dark rum over ice...good evening.

+996. I've had the same experience multiple times: buy a part, it sits on the workbench for weeks or months, then finally install, sit back and say "yeah, I did that."

The feeling of accomplishment along with the bonus of saving money is a worth while goal as DIYers.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 4:21 pm+996. Yep. The daily driver Ford Explorer went in for an oil change at my mechanic. "Bad news. You have a rear caliper leaking fluid. That means you need to change the caliper and pads. And on the opposite side as well. We can do it for $800." Quick Google search finds YouTube video. Go online to order Ford parts at Advance Auto for $163. Easy install on a Saturday afternoon, complete with bleeding the brakes. Took about 3 hours because beer breaks.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
My motor mounts have been sitting on my shelf since summer. I have done some very, very simple jobs on the new Porsche so some of my hesitation is that I'm afraid to screw something up (like breaking the filler tube) so I keep putting it off. Just have to take the plunge.b3freak wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:42 amThe feeling of accomplishment along with the bonus of saving money is a worth while goal as DIYers.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 4:21 pm
