Put the 996 and the 928 in the auto museum's display at the Kansas City Auto Show. Proof that you can, apparently, polish a turd.

Congrats.

So is the back drop to make it look like more than six cars photoshopped or did you have an artist come in and paint the walls? Looks good either way.

Looks great. Can’t wait until Saturday for the KCRPCA breakfast at the Auto Show to see them all shined up 🚘

You know with the "I'm compensating for something" red those would seem to be good eye catchers. Seems like you could do something useful with those eyeballs. You know. Like maybe some 996output.com signage :P

They've been sitting on a shelf since I had to get the car smogged last fall...

Fast-forward 30 minutes: I walk out to grab the laundry and start working on the car...and it starts dumping rain. Up until this point, it had been sunny and 72; the sunroof was even ajar.

Dammit.

So, no cats were reinstalled. Instead, I worked on Mrs. Schnell's rain barrel project...

Proud of myself, as I finally got on the Rein motor mounts I ordered when I first got the car. I’m not noticing better shifting but the car is noticeably smoother at idle. You can hardly tell it’s running now.

However, I continue to be a ding dong as evidenced by:

—I didn’t notice my 1/2 inch ratchet’s deep sockets skip from17mm to 19mm. Thanks Sears! Off the Home Depot in the wife’s car with the 996 in pieces.

— when I changed my air filter last fall, I put the lip of the airbox in wrong such that the lip was in the inside, not the outside and not super sealed up. That alone could have explained the bumpy idle.

One other note: my mounts were really gone. After getting the first mount off I had to pump the jack twice to get enough thread to get the nut on the new mount. I didn’t see this mentioned in any of the instructions.
