Re: My Audi A8L saga
That sounds about like the last e30 I owned for all of 5 months.
Paid $3500 for it.
Spent $6500 on various things (mostly trying to fix the cabin posing as a swimming pool).
Gave it to a friend for $500 after a $16 part failed as I had enough.
It worked out much better for him. His Land Rover decided that a functioning engine wasn't all that important, so he looked around the shop for what he could get running cheap until the LR got fixed. He fixed the heater hose, replaced the rear drive shaft (U joint had failed so the PO had welded it together, 40+mph was "entertaining"), and slapped the interior back in it. He drove it for 6 months with no further work until the LR was on the road again, then he sold it for $2500 (about $1.5k profit for him).

Owned it 18 months. Put 8,000 miles on it. It was operable for maybe 8 of the 18 months.

FWIW, a local sage named Karl advises "never own an Audi out of warranty".

Re: My Audi A8L saga
BTW, I snapped a few pics right before I took the car to the auction. Despite the headaches, I have to admit it was a nice looking ride.

Re: My Audi A8L saga
Not to hijack the thread but the other day I went to the DMV to register my new Ricermobile and noticed in the parking area where the Sheriff verifies out of state titles I noticed two cars with dealer advertisement plates. Since the dealer plates were something like "Weird Wally's Used Cars"(note actual dealer in Lincoln however not Wally this time) I was surprised to see a fairly late model Panamera 4S looking somewhat less than pristine.
FRUNK: Just wondering how many of these types of cars do you see go through the auctions? I know you posted about a Panny go through a while back. This just surprised me.
