Re: It's a Roller Again
Oh goodness... I'm just now seeing this. Unfortunately, this is the flip side of releasing a DIY video on how on Bore Scoring. People will now realize there cars have another major flaw.
Bill, what are you going to do about it?

Worked on it today on my back and with the flu...I cleaned the oil out of #4 and turned it by hand, so far so good but I really don't know how to proceed once I pull the throttle body and clean the runners. Tempted to run a catch can but I'm sure there's a down side to that.

So Bill, the prognosis is AOS failure that led to filling the cylinders with oil which led to hydrolock?808Bill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 11:35 pm Worked on it today on my back and with the flu...I cleaned the oil out of #4 and turned it by hand, so far so good but I really don't know how to proceed once I pull the throttle body and clean the runners. Was reading up on your RL thread. What a kick in the nuts.
Are you going to work on this yourself? If so, if there are any tools or parts we can help out with, post up - my Durametric is currently on loan, but when it rolls back in, you're welcome to it.
For those not following the thread on RL, he pulled a quarter-inch chunk of flattened metal out of his filter - so there may be collateral damage. Hope not.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.
Re: It's a Roller Again
The 1/4" piece that fell out of the filter was an anomaly (I think) as I cut open the filter and found no metal debris and nothing picked up by a magnet. The piece looked like a flake of carbon or rust and it crumbled when I pinched it flat between my fingers. When I drained the oil, it all looked good (no sparkles) and my magnet picked nothing up.
I filled the oil and took it for a 30 min drive to clear out the oil/smoke and all seems fine.
I will pull this filter next week to see if anything else shows up. At this point I don't know what else to do. Thoughts?
