NASCAR Experience
NASCAR Experience
Not sure if I remembered to brag here, but my brother-in-law kicked down with both the ride-along experience and one of the the drive-it-yourself version. Looks like September is when they start up again, so I'm gonna get mine booked soon.

Re: NASCAR Experience
I have done the self drive Be Petty experience at the Iowa Race Track in Newton, IA. Would like to do one at the KC race track as Newton is only 3/4 mile and you can only keep it matted for a "short" time. I enjoyed the Hell out of it. Back then they had you run behind a pacer car. The pacer watches and picks up the speed if you stay close to him. I almost ran over him twice and we caught the duo that went out a half of lap ahead of us! These days they either have an in car dude or radio contact with the customer. One outfit's slogan is "If you're not passing. You're not racing." Can't remember who that is but would like to do a session with them.
It is a real deal thing. Real NASCAR cars although engines are not tuned to peak performance, but it will keep your attention when you mash the loud pedal. My only regret is I only did 8 laps once and although exhausted after that it left me wanting to do more!
DO IT!!!

Re: NASCAR Experience
Frankly, the drive along is a bit disappointing. I did the 3 lap version and in reality its only 2 laps. They count the exit from the pits to the track (3/4 lap) and the exit to the pitys (3/4 lap) as full laps. You only pass start/finish twice. You spend 1/3 of the time below the blend line.
Waited almost 2 hours for our ride as well.
Maybe the drive it yourself is better, but I would exopect they count the laps the same way

Re: NASCAR Experience
Not sure about Fontana, but at Newton, which is actually 7/8 of a mile, did 8 laps driving and out of the pits we were hammer down coming out of turn one. Unfortunately on lap eight we caught the car ahead of us entering turn one so we idled around to the pits. My buddy ran full whack in his session until half way down the back stretch on last lap. Bigger track may have longer slow down length due to higher speeds. Don't think they want you at full speed entering turn four then trying to get speed down to enter the pits! Regardless driving is the way to go. If you want more laps, which I recommend, bring a larger credit card. They will be happy to accommodate.JayG wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 7:35 am Frankly, the drive along is a bit disappointing. I did the 3 lap version and in reality its only 2 laps. Not yet. Gonna do Vegas instead of AC Speedway - the scheduling is way easier.
