Ah, the dreaded loose "710" cap! Glad that was all it was.

You definitely found a trustworthy shop. Most run-of-the-mill shops would have said "need your car for 2 weeks while we diagnose the problem and replace parts."
Do you have a coolant expansion tank cap ending in P/N 04?

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Ok here's a question: I haven't been driving the 996 much because well sheltering in place. For the short errands I go on I typically drive the Honda. Here's the question: It took me several minutes today to adjust to the difference in shifter throw/play. The 996 is much longer throw and a whole lot sloppier. I can't put a short throw shifter in the car because if I grab a money shift a certain engine rebuilder would most likely slit my bag. Anyone have experience with the stock 997 shifter? I've read some good, bad and indifferent comments. Wondering if it was worth it and user friendly.

My coolant cap is black with white lettering and no part# visible. Does say West Germany on it. So I guess I'm good....for now.

I too thought about short shift mods. But then my purist self said leave it alone...keep it O.G. Yes it is a little sloppy but that's what it was from factory. IMO.

I had the black cap when I got the car, as well. Prevailing advice is get the cap marked 04. They are blue as in pic. When you tighten the cap down...tighten the cap down. I learned that lesson the hard way.

I did this upgrade and it is a nice improvement. Worse part was pulling the console.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 6:22 pm Ok here's a question: I haven't been driving the 996 much because well sheltering in place. Wow, what a coincidence - I was just talking about how good the Mk I aero kit cars look, and voila, GH996 with his guards red aero kit car pops up. Man, that thing is stunning.GH996 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 12:01 pmI did this upgrade and it is a nice improvement.
