Best post ever on this site. Fantastic stuff!FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:22 pm My son, awag, bought a track car yesterday - a 1995 M3. He was going to buy a beater 3 series and turn it into a track car, but several people (me included) told him he'd save a shit ton of time & money by spending a bit more upfront and buying one that somebody else had already turned into a track car. He's a little nervous about it, but I think he did pretty well - he spent $9,000 on it, but it looks like it's had more than $9,000 in parts alone put into it, plus extra set of wheels and brand new (never used) set of track tires.

Here's the ebay ad text:
For sale is my M3 track car. I have owned it for about 5 yrs and have done many track days with it along. The first year of ownership was spent prepping the car for track/street use, but has slowly become a dedicated track car. I have an extensive amount of time and money in this car. I don't believe you will find better as far as condition goes as most everything has been replaced. You will find cheaper M3s, but they will still have original components and most likely need THOUSANDS in repairs. This car needs nothing. The exterior plastics, trim are showing their age and have cracking and rusty spots, but it’s a track car so who cares. It was purchased for track duty, thus its appearance does not concern me. That said, I will attempt to list all that was done to the car (I am sure I will leave some out). BMW parts used if reasonably priced. I know what KBB says this car is worth and I don't care. I feel I asking a fair price considering the work that has been done to it. I am pretty firm on price but will entertain offers close to the listed price. Please don't email me with lowball offers...I will not reply. I don't NEED to sell this car.

Both sets come with the car.
Interior:
Car has been gutted for weight savings and to increased performance.
Single Corbeau FX1 seat in place mounted to VAC motorsport seat bases using generic side seat mounting plates.
Sabelt 6 pt mounting harness.
Welded in half cage (have the rest of pre bent material to weld in full cage)
Custom autoblip system designed by myself that uses brake and clutch inputs to initiate a timer that activates a solenoid to blip throttle on braking downshifts. NO MORE HEEL TOE.
CARBON FIBER Sunroof delete panel
Custom HDPE drivers door panel. Original panel falling apart.
Custom Diamond tread aluminum drivers side foot well. Removable for cleaning.
ALL THIS WORK HAS LESS THAN 5 THOUSAND MILES ON IT.
The not so good news:
A/c works but has very slow leak that requires annual top off.
Looks to have been rear ended in previous life. Extended partially into trunk area, Frame untouched. Previous owner did not disclose this, but I can not in good conscience disguise this fact. Car tracks straight with no abnormal tirewear patterns.
Exterior showing its age. several rusty areas on the trim and front fascia brittle plastic and rubber.
area of cracking paint in rear. I will try to take pictures of these areas the best I can.
I like most people didn’t listen to others when told it is cheaper to buy someone elses racecar than try to build it. If you add up all the parts alone not including labor you will see I am asking much less than I have in it.

Yeah, they officially got rid of a bunch of the mods over there, including the one who banned me for a month for simply mentioning the Good Week thread in a post. The general consensus from the gallery is "good riddance."Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:26 pm I'm back from the woods. What did I miss? Rennlist is on fire? So, nothing?

I had some office servers running Win XP. They have been running for roughly 24 years...solid. Power supply here and there replaced. There was nothing like Win XP.

I just had Windows for Workgroups flashbacks - which subsequently awoke long-dormant memories of Novell Netware.
Technology used to suck SO much more than it does now...I remember doing a site visit in Texas in ~2000 that had just spent millions wiring and outfitting a "smart" school...end-to-end with Novell shit that was obsolete before they printed the purchase order.
