I know you're new to this admin stuff - but we have decided to use OCP's ED-209 for rule enforcement henceforth.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
I've been driving the Grand Cherokee exclusively for a couple of weeks now, trying to troubleshoot a charging system issue.
Today, I had to be at work early to deal with an "emergency" - so I took the 996 instead.
It's easy to forget how quickly the 996 accelerates...and how much fun it is to rev-match downshifts and other stuff that accentuates a high-revving engine (compared to a Jeep product). And, of course, there's the icing on the cake - the guy with the AMG who normally parks in the back lot just HAD to back his Mercedes into the spot next to the 996.
A 996 can inject a LOT of goodness into an otherwise kind-of-bleak morning.

Taking a multi-week break from the car makes it feel like new again, that's for sure. People seem to let their guard down a lot more around classic sports cars than new ones so I enjoy those interactions a lot.
You're still trying to figure out the charging issue after the dealer fix huh Schnell?

The dealer replaced the aux battery - but it's not charging properly unless I drive it for 200+ miles. It's also idling rough, which I initially suspected was a vacuum leak, but now I think is due to the alternator working too hard at idle.
I've been meaning to run a ground from chassis to the batteries - ground issues seem common on the WK2 Grand Cherokee - but I just haven't felt like dicking with it yet. The dealership is still weeks behind and understaffed ("because COVID") - and if the service writer mentions "drive cycle" one more time, I'm going to wind up in prison.

I forget: Did the dealer qualify the alternator/voltage regulator properly i.e. load test it? Did they check the car for excessive demand while running? Do they have a clue?5chn3ll wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:54 am The dealer replaced the aux battery - but it's not charging properly unless I drive it for 200+ miles. "Aux battery" is that the one for restarting the engine after shutdown at a stop light? if so I found a way to help that situation in the Volvo...turn the shutdown system off!
