Germany at 50% Russian oil has got to be wringing their hands.

I just realized something...all three of my cars "prefer" premium fuel! Time to start a GoFundMe...

My mom's 15 year old Kia minivan "requires" premium. They never put anything but regular in it and it ran just fine for those 15 years until a typical FL driver ignored a stop sign and t-boned the shit out of it (mom was fine).

I know from experience that the 996 will handle regular "just fine", it will just feel incredibly sluggish as the anti-knock system is working over time.

I would expect the Jeep to be just fine on not-premium.

The Vette is old enough that it might actually be serious about needing the octanes for the motor to not act like total shit.

As long as the knock sensor(s) are working, "regular" is fine.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

I "argued" with a guy in one of my facebook groups who maintained he never used premium for any of his cars, even a turbo, and never had any problems. Sure, because modern cars have knock sensors so all you're missing out on is optimum performance.

I would think older cars would need premium less as compression falls with wear and tear and with it pre-detonation due to compression, but I just hand over my wallet. We refine a lot of gas and our gas taxes aren't too bad, so we're going to have fewer whippings than most I guess.

Yeah, bill's got the cooler garage. I'm worse off than Schnell:
00 Porsche 996
17 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid grocery getter
11 Honda Civic Winter Car Dent-o-Rama.

T-minus 24 days, 16 hours before I pull the Porsche out of the garage and the winter car gets parked out of the way.
