Well, here's something you don't see everyday. Proof positive that money and taste do not always go hand-in-hand.

A 993-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S is a rare machine, but there's a unique example currently for sale from Pfaff Reserve that you have to see to believe. His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, the 6th Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, commissioned the custom machine through Porsche Exclusive to get this amazing color combination.

The exterior is the shade Vanilla Yellow. Although in these pictures, the hue appears to have more of a green tinge. The color has a seafoam appearance. While not a paint choice you usually see on a Porsche, we can see why the owner would select it.

Opening the door reveals a complete color contrast. The leather is a mix of yellow and orange that is eye-searing to look at. If that's not enough, the buyer selects the gauge faces, all of the switchgear, speaker housings, seat belts, and other bits of trim to be in the same shades as the upholstery.

While the Turbo S is a very sporty vehicle, the buyer of this one keeps the cabin looking luxurious rather than focusing on a performance-focused appearance. There's wood trim that has a grain mixing shades of brown in the darker portions and hues that are closer to orange in the lighter parts. It's a good mix with upholstery color. The carpets are light tan.

Introduced for the 1997 model year, the 911 Turbo S featured larger turbos and revised engine management to make 444 horsepower (331 kilowatts) in Europe and 424 hp (316 kW) in the United States. The vehicle also received a revised body kit with small inlets in the rear fenders, a different rear wing than the standard Turbo, and quad exhaust tips. This high-spec 911 variant only lasted until 1998.

According to the listing, this car went through a full restoration at Porsche Classic in Germany from 2010 to 2014. The cost for the work was an astonishing €446,500. Since the work, this Turbo S has only covered 65.87 miles (106 kilometers). The sale includes the original commissioning documents and the complete restoration invoice.

Pfaff Reserve is asking $888,888 for this unique 911 Turbo S. That's certainly a lot of money, but you're never going to see another one in this color combination.

Except for the wood interior (and that it's a 993), I kinda like the look actually.

In more local and taste agnostic news, the new security module finally showed up after over a month of waiting. So it'll be off to the Indy in the next day or so for the replacement so that I can leave the battery connected again...

Good to hear.

I saw on the local news today that the chip shortage is beginning to lessen, and they were predicting more new vehicles hitting the dealer lots in the coming months. That matches with what my son who works for VW HQ (next door to gnat) said a couple of months ago. Not sure how the Ukrainian wiring harness production halt affects things, but hopefully automotive electronics production will get back to normal soon.

Speaking for the exterior color and the exterior color alone - I like that very much actually. I would PTS that color.

Am sore, but I did a thing…

I’m REALLY grateful for the lift carts at my data center…the days of brute-forcing crap into the rack are over…

So just because I often tout the fact that I own two 996's but seldom prove the fact I own two 996's I thought I'd take the rare opportunity to photograph my two girls together. Ol Yeller (Gelb) is a roller - a 1999 Carrera Cab MT. The seller literally described the car to me as "snake bit." I've done quite a bit of work over the last two years, however, none of that work has produced forward motion of the car. I'm finally moving on from the engine rebuild to the rest of the $*** that's broken on the ****. Engine is now a 3.6 Nickies built by the least qualified people to ever build an M96.

Oh, and the reason why the car is outside (now covered,) instead of inside is because my workshop is located inside of a warehouse that is being ren(n)ovated. It is kind of an interesting situation, actually, because also inside of that warehouse is the creative agency owned by my best friend. Think of kind of a Russian nesting doll situation - his main business is actually located inside of a smaller 2-story building that is inside of the 4-story warehouse. It's really cool. (The building is about twice as tall as the one you can see in my photograph.) Elsewhere in the "bigger building" (warehouse) is our workshop. He tells me our lift and broken Porsche is an instant conversation starter with clients. So, even though his wife tells me she loves me and thinks I am great for her husband I believe the fact that I've boosted her other business' curbside appeal is the reason why I get to stick around. They are renovating after all.

Can't wait to tell you guys it starts/moves.
