Well, sometimes procrastination pays off. I bought a full clutch kit for the '73 914 back in November because I was getting a chatter when I let off the clutch in 1st and 2nd gears. I figured it might be some oil from the rear main seal leaking onto the clutch plate because once I got moving, I didn't detect the clutch slipping at all. Since I drive the car somewhat regularly, it has now stopped chattering. The previous owner said he never drove the car much at all, so it probably did have a little oil accumulated on the clutch plate and now I've burned it off by driving the car. That doesn't change the fact that I've got a box full of $861.27 worth of parts (but who's counting?) on my workbench, but at least I've saved the effort for now of doing the work.

Ok so I need some advice.

I got Nickies so don't have to fret over scored liners

I got The Solution so don't have to lose sleep over the IMSB failing.

I got the UAOS so don't have to wonder when the AOS will fail and slug the cylinders with non-compressible oil.

I got mouse traps and dryer sheets all over the place so I no longer have "Gonzo" syndrome.

I have the upgraded ignition switch system so it should always start and the headlights should work.

What am I missing?

However, there is the battery and I haven't rerouted the emergence frunk cable...guess I won't be sleeping tonight.
