Welcome to Texas winters. It can be 70F one hour, 40F and hour later and into the 20's the next day. Then reverse the process.

Y'all down in the greater Austin area got slammed. Up north (I'm nearer Fort Worth) we were supposed to get it bad, but the temps dropped lower than forecast and we received primarily sleet with just 1/4" or so of freezing rain. My good friend who lives in SW Austin sent pictures of all of the trees down due to ice accumulation. Not pretty at all.

So today, while we're thawing...they're sawing.

Schnellyfam update - Mrs. S. took a header on the ice, and now I know how much it costs for a front tooth dental implant. Also, the dog refuses to die and in fact continues to get better.

"Getting better" sometimes involves Tsar Bomba-strength antibiotics resulting in foot-long trails of carbonated liquid dog sh*t on my artificial turf, it turns out.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

Jeebus!

I hope the wife is ok. That had to hurt. For GOD's sake buy some slip on ice creepers and leave them at the mountain house. I would swear a few posts above someone else did a Fosbury Flop. Use them! Yaktrax are good.

On PeePEye: good for him. Garden hose for the artificial turf or tear it out and put something in the ground that grows.

Californians...sheesh.
