Truly a defining statement on our society.
"NFL" = "National Felons League" (or "No Fun League"). They, along with the NBA--and to a lesser extent MLB and the NHL--place winning and $$ far above being sane, sober, moral, law-abiding members of society.

I know y'all are probably getting tired of it, but I hope you enjoy the magic that is the Mahomes show in its 6th straight AFC Championship game on Sunday!

Last week was...yeah. House flooded due to the rain on Monday...Mrs. S. concussed herself while filling sandbags @ public works while I was dealing with the water. And we were both sick at the time.

House is good, Mrs. S. is good, and next week can't help but be good...

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

So I went full retard after the flooding on Jan. 22. I increased our pump capacity from 6000GPH to 15000GPH, and I rerouted all of the downspouts from the back of our house via temporary 4" drain pipe to the storm drains. This way, our French drain and sump pit can be devoted to dealing with groundwater and runoff. It turns out that it's a lot easier to divert the water BEFORE it winds up on/below the ground.

I also added a 1.8KW UPS to my garage, so I can run at least one 6000GPH pump for half an hour or so if the power goes out again. And I have enough 50-watt outdoor LED floodlights to illuminate a small runway if necessary.

After removing all of our roof runoff from the equation, I can see where we have a serious drainage issue. I'll be digging a second sump pit this spring to ensure the place never floods again.

Other than a bit of water between some vinyl plank flooring and the pad below it in our hallway, we're dried out from last Monday. I still have one dehumidifier running to get as much moisture out as possible - nobody likes t3h molds.

Sounds like a lot of work and $$$$ but probably well worth it. By looking at the weather forecast you might get to test it out this week.

Mother Nature gave Mrs. S's Grand Cherokee a distilled-water pre-rinse last night, so I took that as my cue to wash and ceramic-coat it this AM.

MOPAR paint has come a LONG way...I can't remember any American make with decent paint back in the '80s and '90s, but after 5 years of sitting in the sun and 80K miles, about 5K of which have been hard off-road miles, it still looks as good as the day we bought it.

I also racked up a win with the auto-dimming high-beams. Short version: Salvage mirror for $100, $20 for a cable to defeat the Fiat Chrysler security module in the Jeep, and a one-VIN license for JScanOBD to tickle a couple of values in the BCM...and now our bumpty Limited has the same auto-dimming high beams as an Overland costing $6K more back in 2019.

I could also add track mode and toggle the "this is a Hellcat" setting to see what happens, but I don't think my 6-cylinder NA Jeep needs an identity crisis.
