My 2002 996 "renovation" thread
Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread
Dude! I once had an e30 that you would have LOVED
Masking tape floor pan rust repairs.
DIY 1" steel plate welded onto the strut housing as a makeshift spring perch (which also ate into the tire).
Radio wiring that made what you've got look professionally done.
Bulbs pulled from dash warning lights.
Rotted out carpet and padding from many water leaks.
Welded u-joint on the drive shaft.
The list went on

I think the missing washer cover looks good - adds patina. This Ferrari sold for $18.1 million:
(btw, the Maserati sitting next to it sold for three dollars and a bag of donuts)

Re: Washer cleaned out
Got some time yesterday to clean out the gunk in the washer. Removed the nozzle. Next, I'll order another one from Porsche. Seems like I can get them from Perimeter Porsche parts cheaper than other online outlets. At Pelican and eBay, the part is north of $60. At Perimeter, it's $55. Plus, I have a coupon for a 10% discount. Yay me!
I tried to see if the car had any washer fluid in it, but not surprised, it was empty.
(see pic) The previous owner from my last 996, included this bottle of Porsche washer fluid. I've never used it. Supposedly concentrate that will make a little over 5 gallons from 250ML container of this stuff. When you fill up the 25ml top reservoir, it will make 2L of washer fluid. Hmmm... interesting. At $15 per bottle, that's $3 per gallon? Cheapo washer fluid runs about $1 - $2/ gallon. Guess it's not that bad of a deal.

What type of glue are you going to use to put the new part back on?b3freak wrote: ↑Sun Jun 24, 2018 7:46 am Got some time yesterday to clean out the gunk in the washer. Removed the nozzle. On the washer fluid...it is Porsche after all! Doesn't everyone use it because of this fact?
Never gonna make you cry...

Re: the Porsche Brand Washer Fluid. It comes from unicorns and so it should be a magical formula, right?

Yesterday I superglued a trim piece onto the A8L. Great minds think alike.

Found the disconnected hose, but after reinstalling the left headlight, I noticed this little gift.... yay for me! ugh!
Guess where it's from and ... guess how it got there.

Re: Washer cleaned out
More bad news: if it really is out of wiper fluid, you should have an instrument cluster warning light.
Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.
