In terms of pricing, the 2001 models would be at the bottom, then 2002-2004 slightly higher, then 2005, then 2005 "S" models. But really, the 2001 models model year is maybe a 1 or 2 percent drop in value compared to the same car in 2002-2004.

All of this info was priceless. Thanks everyone.

Checked out car yesterday. Walked away.

Things that could be seen and heard, do place this car in the low 20's.

Below where my findings, before a PPI.

Front bumper mis-aligned (had upgraded front bumper).
* Possibly due to current owner removing to clean radiators or accident, who knows.
Front Headlights do look new, agree could be due to accident.
Paint all messed up, even for a "driver".
* scratches
* chips that have removed clear coat on hood and other sections
* chips throughout the car
* bubbles under paint on fenders
* rear quarter panel looks like sun cracked paint then was sealed with years of wax
BOTH rear lights where cracked
Clunk noise coming from front driver side suspension
Windows at times made grinding noises (going to need regulators soon)
Sunroof got stuck half way when closing, but was able to close
Passenger seat, rear portion would not go up or down, just made grinding noise
Bunch of other misc things throughout the interior

The main reason I walked away. Car is fast, but does not pin you to the seat like other 911 Turbo's I have been in. Power was "smooth" between 3K - 6.5K RPMs. I was expecting a sudden Power Boost when turbo's kicked in. Something just did not "feel" right with drive train.

I see the seller says the car is in "excellent" condition. Just proves those claims are relative huh? I never believe them! Glad you're patient even when the deal seems to good to be true. I'm not sure I'd want a car like this in tiptronic, but I guess that's where the Turbo technology is going..most all of the new Turbos are auto-manual w/ paddle shifters ... no proper manual. (sniffle) Fortunately, Porsche still knows their buyers want true manual and have put it in their other cars.

Keep the search alive and post back with pics. All the best!

Will do.

This one looked like a good deal too, but a couple of days too late.

Unfortunately, for a low-$30ks car, most of those blemishes are pretty normal. You won't find a pristine car with a price starting with a 3. I think a car that might turn into a great buy is Bill's seal gray car that is currently on BaT. It doesn't seem to be drawing much attention. I think it may end up in the high $30k range, which would be a great deal. It was at $20,996 still last night, and I think ends today or maybe tomorrow.

The price is irrelevant until the last 5 minutes of the auction, but you can get a feel based on number of bids and comments. I think he made a mistake in using pics without the center caps on the wheels.

Probably the best take-away for you, based on your comments, is that you won't be happy with a tippy. There's nothing wrong with a tippy, but if you want raw speed, a tippy will leave you underwhelmed. A tippy is still a fast car, but in a more civilized manner.

The '01 Turbo made 415 HP at the crank...so, 370ish to the wheels? That's a decent HP number, but not your-neck's-gonna-hurt-tomorrow. Throw in the Tip - which is a decent transmission, but it's not the transmission best-selling author, occasional Gitmo AirBNB guest, and internationally-renowned automotive fashion consultant John Ireland thinks it is*, and I can see that the performance might be underwhelming. 17 years is a long time...front-wheel drive hatchbacks ship with 300HP these days.

That car doesn't look disastrous to me - but it's in rougher shape than my car, and my car is not pristine. Things I'm willing to overlook on my car I'm not sure I'd be willing to overlook for a Turbo. However, a lot of those issues could be resolved with a little bit of money at a decent paint shop, $500 or so to the wheel repair shop, and a shopping spree to update some of the tired interior bits (like those floormats)...$5 to $10K could do a LOT for this car.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

All good info, please keep them coming.

As for the issues for any TT in the 30's, I understand that it will be far from perfect. In fact, looking for a driver. This one just seemed a bit more than what I wanted to deal with.

I'm still trying to get educated on these cars because TT is a different beast. i.e. Higher milage is not terrible on these engines. But being a 15+ yr old car, have to keep in mind that power has diminished.

Did see the car on BaT, also saw this one did not meet reserves https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003- ... urbo-23-2/ X50 option is nice. ;)

For now, will be keeping an eye on the market to see what pops. My car is scheduled to go in for major service and will then be putting it on the market soon.
