I pulled my nice 996 out of the garage and shut it off to go grab some stuff inside. When I came back it was so dead the interior lights didn't even turn on. Forget about closing the windows or locking the doors!
I was really impressed it went from mostly OK to deader than dirt in seconds. I put it on the charger every weekend, no power out there so I can't use a maintainer.
I found an AGM battery on sale at NAPA and it's good as new.

Starting is a big strain on the battery, especially if it's having trouble maintaining a charge to begin with.

I've jumped it, driven for a good 30+ minute keeping it in the 4k+ RPM range, and still had it refuse to crank after turning it off.

If you have a place to mount it where you can get cables in to the car, get yourself a 30W solar panel (like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0836PVY8J). Since our car lives out side I have one of those tossed back on the rear shelf and it hasn't even hesitated to start even after the car sat for almost a month.

Also, they are usually extra $$$, but if you expect the battery to possibly drain on you, get a deep cycle battery (Optima finally offers one that fits the 996). That way the battery isn't toast the first time it gets dead dead.

A quick trick to see if paint is fully decon'd and ready for correction. Get a plastic bag (the old thin style, not the reusable type), and lightly run your finger over the paint with the bag between your finger and paint. You will feel if there's any spots that need to be clayed.

I hadn't ever considered using Motul as part of a paint correction program...an intriguing choice, to say the least!

I assume you meant the wheel cleaner and not this
Iron X! Selective Weed Killer & Herbicide
My first thought was the neighbor's palm trees are dead meat. I wonder why that popped into my head...

I have radar detectors in all three cars (Jeep, 996, Corvette), and dashcams in the 996 and the Jeep.

After my last experience getting pulled over (the cop let me go as soon as he noticed the dashcam), I'm a believer.
