I'm sure by now my mom has told my dad to stop telling the story as often as he's told it.

Merging the boomer posts and my son's hole in one, here's the text of a post on my FB wall from my aunt, the last sentence is gold:

Yeah that Aunt quote is Fake News...It would have been all in CAPS! BTW She needs to quit writing stuff on walls. That's illegal.

My son Chad left for the begininng of his ARMY career. He will arrive at Ft Benning later today. It will be his home for at least the next 34 weeks as he trains for Airborne Special Forces (18x MOS).

I'm sure going to miss that little fucker. I am proud as hell for what he has chosen to do with his life and proud of the man he has become.
Thank you, for your support of our country by raising a son that wants to serve in the military. Definitely keep us updated with his progress as he moves up the ranks. Life does go by too quick, doesn't it? My daughter is a senior this year and it seems just like yesterday I was driving her home as a newborn.
UPDATE:

The last time we spoke to him was when he was in the airport in Atlanta July 31. We did get a letter from him last week. He told us he might be in "processing" for up to 30 days!!! While in processing, he does not have use of his phone, nor is allowed to call us and he can't receive mail. Once he is assigned to a training platoon, he will be able to call us and receive mail. They have him doing lots of PT and his day is 0330 to 2100.

We have been sending him daily text messages, so when he does finially gets his phone to use, he will get a shitload of messages :)

Jay, you up to any car-related mayhem this weekend in San Diego? Any C&C action I should know about?

I need to take the Corvette to coffee-and-burnouts one of these weekends...
