Guys over in a Type R forum were questioning what they can get away with on getting smogged on their modified cars. One guy showed up who had been trained as a smog technician and set them straight. He posted the map below. Allegedly the light areas do not require smog testing on a time basis. Who would have thunk it?

There is truth to that. If your car is registered in a rural area, CARB may not require using the STAR smog stations required in more populous areas for 996’s and other vehicles the state decides are likely polluters.

I have not looked too far into the other differences yet - but if they’re significant, I’ll probably...eventually...reregister both “polluters” @ our address in Big Bear (San Bernardino County).

It’s also easier to get a concealed carry permit up here, but...again...if there is a guy who has NO business carrying a gun around everywhere, it’s probably me. Especially if it’s a smog test year.

Sorry I don't get my hands that dirty. I'll just wait for the toilet to take its revenge on you.

Also the reason I chose being an oxygen-deprived cheesehead vs. a regular cheese-filled head, Billy. :D

The "185 days with no rain" is a major bummer, I'll admit.

I wonder what bulk wheat costs in the middle of winter. I think I have a x-mas present idea for someone...
