Surfer vacationing in Hawaii saves woman struggling to swim in rough waters
(NBC) – An Australian surfer is being hailed a hero for rescuing a swimmer in distress.
Surfer Mikey Wright was vacationing with family on Oahu when out in the surf, a woman began struggling in huge waves.
Wright, who was recording the video above, gave his phone to his wife and sprung into action. He jumped into the water, navigating rocks to reach the swimmer.
“I was happening to be filming and then I realized and I was like wait this is going to turn really bad. And I… had a beer in hand and phone, and I was like ‘Shenay,’ my wife, like ‘hey take this, like hold this, I’ve got go,’ and I just started running down the yard, like stripping my shirt off, stripping everything out of my pockets and the gate was locked so I had to jump the fence,” he said.

A classic "Here hold my beer..." literally.

I thought it was a universal truth that any event preceded by "hold my beer" ends badly.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 6:56 pm A classic "Here hold my beer..." literally.Surfer vacationing in Hawaii saves woman struggling to swim in rough waters

Good on him!

Thanks...no didn't disconnect the battery but I noticed better throttle response across the board. Makes taking off from a stop like old times. And it cleared out the PSM/ABS lights from coming on under hard acceleration. I wish the streets in LA were in better condition...there are some that are just rotten and they make feel like I'm abusing the car.5chn3ll wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 7:36 am Nice.
Did you disconnect the battery for a while after replacing the MAF? The Motronic will start adapting fuel trims immediately, but disconnecting the battery will greatly accelerate the process.
If you were within a few weeks of needing an emissions test, I wouldn't do this - but since you just got the car, you have the better part of 2 years before you have to visit your friendly neighborhood smog guy...
On a sad note, the fellow who bought my 993 back in 99 has moved and so I no longer know where the car is. I ran a Carfax on it but no service records since 2015, not even emissions testing. I think he parked it in his garage around then and stopped driving it because he thought it would become his retirement gold mine. He even told me he turned down a $100,000 offer. That seemed a little steep even for a 95 Riviera Blue coupe. But now that he has moved, I guess it is gone until somebody starts driving it.
I'm just curious how it (or another 993 coupe) will feel next to the 996. Maybe find one for sale and take a test drive. My flipping days are over, I don't want to end up like one of the husbands on Law and Order.

Hey I'm late to the party but just checking in to say Happy New Year to "the boys," hope you're all doing well. I've been good - just laying low through the holidays, trying not to engage in too much digital interference. Back to my normally scheduled BS, I suppose.

I haven't been here because you haven't been here. What's the point without Doc, right? Hey B3, I was killing some time recently doing some WW2 history reading. The 101st Airborne (see Band of Brothers) had a training camp in Toccoa, GA, with a famous mountain trail that they ran. Looks like that's in your neck of the woods. Just wondering if you've ever been there, and is it worth a side trip up from Atlanta to go see? For example, if I did a trip to ATL to the PEC? Looks like it's about 1 1/2 hours from the airport.

Well, yesterday was a goat rodeo. Amirite?

Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.
