Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
I was going to whine about how hot it was around these parts then I noticed the forecast of the city our friend lives in:
Horse pucky 104 to 112 is Hot...DAMNED HOT!!! Blast furnace hot.
"but it's a dry heat..." Horse pucky 104 to 112 is Hot...DAMNED HOT!!! Blast furnace hot.
Never gonna make you cry...

I attribute my hearing loss to 15 years of touring with R&R bands32wildbilly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:44 amDr_Strangelove (whew!) (whew!) wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 4:25 pm Fool me twice - you can't get fooled again.
Saw these guys in Chicago in the early 70's. I think they were the beginning of my hearing loss...
Well them and maybe:
Mountain(three times)
Stones(four times)
REO Speedwagon(numerous times)
Steppenwolf(twice)
These are just the ones I remember. So many were lost in a haze of intoxicants
Plus years of working around 16 cylinder 3,000+ horsepower diesel engines at full song on a load rack. Let's not forget the two stroke dirt bikes, two stroke karts and the sprint car.
Hell I'm lucky I can hear at all.
...and, yes, Herr 5chn3ll got me once again...DAMMIT!
Can probably point to the big damage from Andy Gibb tour. We measured over 140 db of crowd screaming . 15,000 14 y/o girls can scream
You know it's bad when the FOH engineer is wearing ear muffs

Between times playing at various shitty clubs in L.A. and O.C. and time spent at indoor gun ranges, my right ear is working @ about 50%. Thankfully, the left one is still "normal" for a 50-year-old, meaning I can't hear shit @ high frequencies.
On the plus side, I can't hear PeePeeEye's whine frequency.
I still wake up from a deep sleep any time the power goes out - the sudden lack of buzzing from all of the transformers and other equipment never fails to jolt me awake...I always reach for the gun safe under my nightstand. I'm the go-to guy when the grid goes down.

Research(tm) shows that many men in America--in particular those who do most of the driving for the family--suffer significant hearing loss in their right ear. Interestingly, left ear hearing loss is found in men living in Great Britain, many Commonwealth countries, and former British colonies.

Huh! I always thought my right ear was dead because the kart's engine mounted on the right side directly by my head.02TX996Cab wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 4:18 pmResearch(tm) shows that many men in America--in particular those who do most of the driving for the family--suffer significant hearing loss in their right ear.
