Crank up your care and concern for the in-laws' family to "11" and self-isolate for the next week to protect their health and safety. It's the responsible thing to do, and the obvious sacrifice you'll be making will be the best Christmas present you could give them!

Hold on, did I say "responsible"?

Yeah, xmas Covid ...

I retired December 31, 2019. The plan was to take the wife on multiple trips. Figured the 997 would cross 200K miles by the end of the year.

That was two months before lock down. So we stayed home. I had finished the down to the studs remodeling as well as the rest of the property so we were comfortable isolating. Pam learned on line ordering and we lived the simple life of hermits. It became a habitual lifestyle. We got our vaccinations and boosters. We came out in public briefly and then Delta happened. So in other words, ultra careful.

Yep, so what? Had symptoms Saturday. Tested positive Sunday. Pam was positive Tuesday. Sunday to Tuesday sucked. Really sucked. Paxlovid seems to help. If you get this get Paxlovid at first symptoms. Full stop. Better yet, don't get it. BTW, Paxlovid affects your taste buds so it's like you're chewing on a lamp post.

But yeah, family who invited themselves for xmas got canceled and we're planning on peace. Silver linings?

Stay safe out there.

Edit a day later: The phone battery died so I hit the post key quickly last night. Basically, time to get past this whole pandemic thing (I'm ready to get back on the road). And it seems that no matter how careful you are your dog or some other vector is going to insure we all participate in this. Have your pharmacist on speed dial to get drugs ASAP.

This morning was my last dose of Paxlovid. If you enjoy your mouth tasting like a combination of copper pennies and rhino asshole, I highly recommend it.

Hope you're feeling better, man. For me, the worst part has been the damn headache.

I concur with the Paxlovid. Mrs. S. started it within a day of her first symptoms, and after 5 days of the stuff, she was feeling much better. I waited an extra day thinking it was just a cold...shoulda taken the test sooner.

I haven't been that close to a rhino and yet I know the description is accurate.

Once symptoms are gone and you test negative you have a ten day period of masking and distancing. It would be irresponsible to spend time in close proximity to others.

Just saying ...
