To be fair, the flight achieved a couple of key objectives--namely, all of the first-stage motors fired off and appeared to remain lit during the boost phase, and the "hot separation" of the first and second stage was successful. I've not seen or heard if the new launchpad / water deluge design worked; that would have been a third key objective. Anything else beyond those would've been bonus content.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 9:07 am After the announcer said “our super heavy booster just experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly.” The idiot employees are still cheering like they are at a Taylor Swift concert. Must the be maryjane that ol’ smokey supplies the team. This after a delay of the launch to replace one of the booster guidance fins so that tells me the plan was to recover the now fragmented booster.
“Yea…Hell yeah it blew the F—k up! Awesome!! Pass that doobie.”
Not unexpected to me.
sigh
That's fookin' AWESOME!Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:26 pm So fellas. I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the inaugural Las Vegas GP.
Cat has to come out of the bag - I work for the Venetian Resort, which had sponsored Alpine for the LV race. It has been a famous fact about me at the property, ever since the Netflix show, that I've been an F1 fan since I was a boy. When the race was announced, everyone was really excited for me. I was even appointed a "special advisor" for the F1 weekend to assist all departments in delivering a rich, accurate fan experience. So, as a "reward" for all of my hard work the Chief Marketing Officer asked me if I'd like to stay on property to photograph the race and everything - which I had happily accepted. 3-day tickets were $2,500 and I was happy to get to experience it, not only for free, but on the clock!
Well, it turns out the whole thing was a ruse so she could invite me as her +1.... to the Paddock Club.
I ended up enjoying the 3-day event as a VIP - and was even taken to meet the team in their pit box.
I'm still in heaven!!!!

That steering wheel weighed less than my cell phone!
That's freaking awesome. One of those experiences that'll live vividly in your memory forever.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:26 pm So fellas. I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the inaugural Las Vegas GP.

LOL - of the photos I have, I did not get her consent to post her face any place so I am not sharing those out of respect to her privacy. When we walked to pit lane I asked her if she thought it was also exciting to be there and she said "I've done this a few times."02TX996Cab wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 2:47 pm Now...where are the photos of you fulfilling your responsibilities as the Chief Marketing Officer's "+1"?

Did you get to keep the steering wheel?
