They have a Cessna 150 in the sim? I don't think I can afford a 152.

You could always go with the trike...

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

I'd prefer a full airplane, please.
Years ago when flying my Archer into Plum Island, MA I saw a pilot with a powered trike kind of thing also trying to get into the airport. He was flying upwind (into the wind). Unfortunately for him, the wind was blowing faster than his airspeed = he was going backwards, out into the North Atlantic. The next land mass in the direction he was flying is Portugal. I suppose he eventually landed somewhere, probably even in North America.

If I ever get a modern PC I will check MS Flight Sim out. It looks really fantastic.

So...the PLAN was "spend $60 to upgrade Flight Simulator from Steam X to the new version."

Reality, of course, was different.

* Learn that my existing video card is not supported for the new version of MS flight.
* Shell out for new GTX 1050 Ti video card.
* Learn that the motherboard in my existing rig is not compatible with current-gen Nvidia hardware. No BIOS update is available. eff me.
* Go spelunking in "hardware I hauled to the office for building test rigs" closet and find a newer version of the same HP gaming/performance desktop rig (!) with 16GB RAM (!!) and an 8-core i7-4770 (meh, but a resounding meh)
* Install Windows on a tiny spare SSD to ensure the GTX works in this chassis (it does). Order 1TB SSD...and in just two more days, I'll get to play my $60 game.

Time to barnstorm downtown San Diego and North Island as a salute to FRUNKY...

My friend showed me an apology email he got from a flight stick & throttle company that said: "Remember how hard it was to find toiler paper in April? That's flight sticks right now." He pre-ordered in anticipation of this game in August and he's still on the waiting list.

At least the thing he has going for him is he's already a video game junkie so his rig was ready to go - just not at max.

Remind me not to work for your cheap ass if that is all you are giving your people!

My company gave me a dual 8 core Xenon desktop with 68GB of RAM. I have no idea what graphics card it has since Ubuntu is clearly lying to me as it identifies it as a cheap POS with dual VGA connectors when it actually has 4 mini display ports.

Why I need all that to run a couple of VS Code instances and umpteen Chrome tabs is beyond me though...

I never buy anything interesting for the office - it's either server hardware or laptop gear. Anything in a desktop case is probably something I brought in from home - I tend to game for a couple of months, and then I get tired of losing to 12-year-olds and quit for a while...and then I later convince myself that an incrementally better computer will make ALL the difference...

I couldn't wait another day, so I dug a 512GB Evo 860 Pro SSD out of a stack of "too many hours as a hot spare to use for anything important" drives and stuffed it into what is quickly becoming "the flight sim rig."

Install is about 10% done (10GB down, 90GB to go)...

...and the money continues to disappear. Unlike every other previous version of MS Flight, add-on availability is really limited...so paying Microsoft appears to be the best route to go to get more toys.

Add another $85 to the price of my $50 flight simulator upgrade.
