I read that she unexpectedly resigned last week. Probably when she found out this tape was being released. I think the officers played it perfectly.

I didn't watch the whole thing because I value my life a little and time is precious or something but it wasn't even clear to me what she wanted to have happen.

I think she just really liked being called " Miss".

I am in awe of the patience and restraint of the two cops. That woman has such a disgusting demeanor, I would have lost my cool by 1 minute mark.

I heard about this and watched the video a couple of times, then looked up how she became the Port Authority Commissioner. Non-paid elected position? Wow... Interesting and frankly, sad. The hypocrisy is that this women was the Chairman of the Ethics Committee. ha! She had the gall to call them "such a shame"... woman must have been sippin' on some serious power trip drugs. Makes you wonder how many times she bullied for her daughter instead of letting her children fight their own battles. Of course, this case doesn't even apply to the daughter. Wasn't her car neither was it the car of the driver. If I'm not mistaken, it's the parent of the driver. Everyone knows that driving a non-registered vehicle, especially without proof that it's insured will get it impounded. To make matters worse, she starts droppin' F-bombs and then she throws around that they're "PhD students from Yale and MIT"... makes me sick! I'm surprised she didn't try to identify them as Professors or Dr. this or Dr. that!

Don't you just love what a camera society has done for abuse like this?

This just in...

Ex-Commissioner Cathy Turner offers an "apology" (if you wanna call it that)

[snip]

"Last month, my daughter and three of her friends were in a car that was pulled over by a Tenafly police officer for non-moving violations, including having tinted windows. The officers subsequently decided to impound the vehicle, leaving the four young adults on the side of a busy highway.

"Concerned, I hurried to the scene to assist them. As a parent, I was upset and uncomfortable with the unfolding events. I let my emotions get the better of me and regret my tone toward the police officers and use of off-color language. For this, I apologize.

"However, at no point did I violate the Port Authority's Code of Ethics or ask for special treatment for anyone involved, nor did I suggest, in any way, that I would use my position at the Port Authority to affect the outcome of the violations issued to the driver. My resignation from the Port Authority is a recognition that this unfortunate incident could and should have been avoided.

As a long-time Tenafly resident, I have always taken an active role in the community, including working with law enforcement officials, and I encourage the Tenafly Police Department to review best practices with respect to tone and de-escalation, so that incidents like this do not recur."

[snip]

Can you believe that last sentence!??? She has no shame does she? The crazy beeotch has the gall to recommend the Tenafly police dept. review it practices of de-escalation and tone?

This women must be sniffin' baby powder. Even real drug users know when to admit fault.

Wow! Watched the whole thing last night, she is a perfect example of the entitled elite abusing power. The non-moving violation was funny in her statement, the damn car had expired registration. Love some of the officers facial expressions of disbelief of this woman but they kept their cool.

Holy hell! :o

I can't watch the whole thing! That cop deserves a commendation for his cool and level headedness!

My response after the first round would have been "here is my supervisor's contact information, now please return to your vehicle". Then when she continued I would have cuffed her ass and tossed her in the back until I could figure out what to charge her with...

They need to de-escalate? She needs to pull her head out of her ass!

The "apology" may be worse than the actual event. At least with the event, she can claim her emotions got the best of her. With a written apology, she has time to cool off, re-word it to her satisfaction, have another person review and revise it, etc. Yet, the 'tude is still there. Can you imagine being married to this woman? I'd be willing to bet there's at least one divorce in her background.

Oh, it gets better. She's a lobbyist by profession. Putting aside political parties (she's a Democrat but was appointed to the Port Authority gig by a Republican governor), this (the event and the apology) is so typical of political hacks, it's amazing. Reaffirms my belief that getting upset over any political issue simply isn't worth wasting my time on it.

BTW, her name is actually "Caren" not Cathy.

Zero self awareness.

So, four MIT PhD students from Yale and other Ivy League schools cannot figure out how to deal with their car being towed...hmm? Notice how all four of the future PhDs are standing on the side of the road, face first in their adult pacifiers while the brave and concerned mama bear goes to bat.

Quick background check on her...shows an ironic birthday, July 4th 1957.
